China to levy anti-dumping, anti-subsidy duties on U.S. auto imports
BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday that China will levy anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on sedans and sport-utility vehicles (SUV) with engines of 2.5 liters and above imported from the United States, after an investigation showed evidence of dumping.
Effective Thursday, importers of related vehicles from the U.S. will be required to set aside deposits with Chinese customs ranging from 2 percent to 12.9 percent according to the level of dumping and the level of subsidy U.S. carmakers received from their government, the ministry said in a statement on its website.
U.S. carmakers, including General Motors and Chrysler Group, have received government subsidies and dumped their vehicles into the Chinese market, which has harmed China's auto industry, the statement said.
The duties will expire on Dec. 14, 2013.

P!
Is this how you plan to increase exports, Mr. Obama?
” U.S. carmakers, including General Motors “
‘Took the Chevy to the levy,
But the levy was dry’.....
The Chinese communists rebel against the American communists.
China doesn’t want the Chevy Volt or any other Government Motors cars.
I assume they mean the auto-bailouts. Are they even allowed to do this unilaterally under WTF rules?
“Is this how you plan to increase exports, Mr. Obama?”
Hussein will use any means necessary to hurt the American economy.
They don’t care about the Volt and small cars. They do want to stop the popular large and large engined SUV. The Buick Park Avenue equivalent is one of the more popular cars there, made in China.
This is a hoot, China trying to make it look like someone else is gaming the system, as they continue to manipulate their currency. In effect, U.S. items cost 35 to 40% more than they should in China, due to that currency manipulation.
We sure must love replacing our electronic items every three to four years, because we continue to do business with a nation that has a very hard time building a product that can survive more than that.
