Birmingham man sentenced to three years for terrorism offences

A bookshop owner from Birmingham has been sentenced to three years in prison for possessing and distributing terrorist publications, following a nine-week trial at Kingston Crown Court.
A jury yesterday (Monday 12) found the 32-year-old Ahmed Faraz guilty of seven counts of dissemination of terrorist publications and four counts of possession of information likely to be of use to a person committing or preparing for an act of terrorism. Seven other similar charges will lie on file.
The sentence follows a lengthy investigation by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit.
Thousands of books, videos, DVDs, invoices and other records were seized from the premises of the Maktabah shop, on Stratford Road - plus other addresses associated with Faraz - in two searches in January 2007 and January 2010.
In addition, a substantial number of computer files were recovered containing electronic copies of terrorist publications and evidence of widespread distribution.
The Maktabah – which became an online business - ceased all trading following Faraz's arrest in January 2010.
Head of the West midlands CTU, Det Chief Supt Kenny Bell says: "This trial was not about censoring books but about the defendant's role in the mass distribution of material, which had been added to and manipulated, in order to prime would-be terrorists to commit violent acts.
"Some of these publications have previously been cited by convicted terrorists as influencing their actions. Other items contained explicit instructions on how to make explosive devices and how to kidnap people.
"The content of some of the material that formed part of the investigation was so graphic we could not show it to the jury.
"The jury have not accepted that he possessed this material for legitimate academic research.
"This has been a long and complex investigation which resulted in a lengthy trial. We thank the jury for their patience and their diligence."
Earlier in the trial the judge, Mr Justice Calvert-Smith, had directed the jury to return not guilty verdicts for eight of the 30 counts Faraz was charged with in total. The jury additionally found the defendant not guilty of four other counts.

Anyway, what’s interesting about the press release and the BBC article; is the connection because the TERRORISM propganda and the TERRORISTS and the TERRORIST EVENTS which have already taken place.
What’s even more interesting is pondering how many people and groups his propganda inspired.
