GOP presidential contender Mitt Romneys decision to campaign negatively in Iowa appears to have backfired, with a new Newsmax-InsiderAdvantage poll showing the former Massachusetts governor plummeting to fourth place in the Hawkeye State -- a swift decline that pollster Matt Towery describes as imploding.
Romneys lead in New Hampshire is evaporating as well, Towery adds.
The InsiderAdvantage survey of 517 registered likely Iowa caucus-goers shows former House Speaker Newt Gingrich the leading choice of 27 percent of Iowa Republicans. He is followed by Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 17 percent, Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 13 percent, Romney at 12 percent, and Bachmann at 10 percent.

In the interest of full disclosure, Matt Towery is a decades long personal friend of Newt Gingrich. That said, it’s great to see Mitt dropping like a stone.

Enough of this game playing, seems to be what the primary voters are saying now.
Who ever would have expected to see a very possible President Gingrich. But he has just the brass face needed to back Obama down, when kinder, gentler approaches would not do.

Seriously Mitt - run against 0bama in the democRat primaries. You would do better there.
Mitt is not a conservative, and doesn't belong in the Republican party.

Romney in free fall is great news. He doesn’t seem to understand that being the better choice between a Massachusetts left wing loon and himself does not make him a good fit outside Massghanistan.
To: TBBT
Just curious-—the article seems to blame Romney’s fall on his going negative. So why isn’t Ron Paul imploding also?

True, but neither is Newt. At least since mid 1990s.
Amnesty, global warming, individual mandate, fairness doctrine, ethanol subsidies etc..
If he is elected, amnesty is real possibility.
