Hard to figure. How can a guy who loved Reagan love FDR? They’re like polar opposites.

So Newt thought FDR was the best potus of the 20th century and the era of Reagan is over.

Thanks for nothing, Newt!

IN JUST ONE WEEK, WE KNOW THESE ABOUT NEWT:

1) He is for Obama’s “payroll” (social security) tax cut extension on LIBERAL grounds that philosophically, you can’t keep Bush tax cuts for the rich and not extend social security tax cuts

2) He is against Romney earning money in the private sector working at a capital firm and equates that to him peddling influence for Fannie/Freddie

3) Takes military option off the table vis-a-vis Iran by claiming a military strike is pure fantasy

4) It comes out that he worships FDR (probably more than God?)

5) He loves Andy Stern the SEIU guy

Did I miss anything else?

With respect to liberty, FDR started out by going to war against private property and his “progressive” policies came >< close to totally destroying the US economy. He came this >< close to destroying the authority of the Supreme Court by packing, an act right up there with Lincoln arresting people for opposing his War. He totally misread Joe Stalin, and was a ‘useful idiot’ in his dealings with him. He refused entry to Jewish refugees onboard ships in deplorable conditions.

He are still laboring under his socialist legacy even at this very moment. If Newt is the nominee, I think I am going to have to vote Libertarian this election for the first time in my life.

Newt also said he was a Teddy Roosevelt republican, Teddy was a “progressive”, today Rush played a clip where Mitt referred to himself as a “progressive republican”, both of them are socialists.

I remember watching the ceremony where Newt was given the Speaker's gavel.

He very graciously praised FDR in his speech, which I thought was classy at the time, given the *horror* the Dems felt in surrendering control of the House.

Not one press report I saw the next day mentioned his gentlemanly acceptance of the gavel. It was all hate, all the time.

Forget Romney & Gingrich, they’re both liberals. Vote Ron Paul!

Every day I am feeling less and less enamored of ANY of the current Republican candidates. I know, Newt talks a great game, but I don’t trust him any further than I could kick him.

Sarah Palin is the only really trustworthy person in the whole bunch. And she ain’t in the bunch.

God help us if we fail AGAIN because we cannot come up with a decent candidate.

What do the Republicans do when the Democrats jump into the sewer? They shout, “Hey, look, we can jump into the sewer too!” And by golly, they do.

Not a Newt Fan....

However, I’ll take Newts admiration for FDR ANYDAY over Barracks man-crush on Mao, Marx and Mugabe.

It's 2008 all over again. The GOP is in the process of pushing out any conservative and all we're left with is "republican progressives". Oddly I feel I know more about Newt and Romney than I do about Baraq, and he's been in office for 4 years.

The longer this primary process continues the more I get a sinking feeling.

FDR, the father of the cluster f*** called social security?

That was a stupid thing to say Newt, downright stupid!

Newt never said he agreed with FDR or the New Deal. He said that FDR was the greatest president for getting his ideas done. He is probably correct. If I were Newt, I would have never even said that, but Newt often puts his foot in his mouth by talking too much.

A perfectly reasonable position. If you want reality Reagan was a great president and stood up to the Soviet Union, but it was George Bush Sr. who brilliantly managed the actual breakup of the Soviet Union.

WW II easily was the greatest event in 20th Cenury World history. Many would pick Roosevelt.
