Hard to figure. How can a guy who loved Reagan love FDR? They’re like polar opposites.

Reagan supported FDR. At least he outgrew it. In the 90's, Newt said anyone who didn't worship FDR & the New Deal should not be considered "conservative".

Newt is the father of "big gov't conservatism", supports an all powerful state and perpetual war (now that he doesn't have to fight). Of course he worships FDR (though he'll dance around it now ...). He is more Al Gore than Goldwater, Reagen, or the Founders.

If you search Newt with Nelson Rockefeller's name afterward that might give more insight. Newt is not the conservative that some Freepers are pretending he is.

"Realpolitik Wilsonian"

No $h!t? Did he really say that?

Done. Out. Ballgame.

Will vote 3rd party or write in Sarah if he is the nominee.

Anyone considering nominating this turkey should have their head examined.

And Newt constantly reminds us that he was a Professor of History. (He sort of forgets to mention that he was also a Professor of Environmental Studies and, indeed, started the Environmental Studies Department at West Georgia College.)

As such, he should know better than most the problems with FDR and Wilson’s political ideology.
