Romney, Gingrich Beat Obama in 12 Swing States
Newsmax ^ | DECEMBER 13, 2011 | Dan Weil

President Barack Obama is in big trouble, with both Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich leading him in a dozen key swing states, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Romney leads Obama among registered voters, 48 percent to 43 percent, in the 12 states the survey covers. And former House Speaker Gingrich leads the president, 48 percent to 45 percent. Nationwide, Obama leads Gingrich, 50 percent to 44 percent, and Romney, 47 percent to 46 percent, according to the poll.

The 12 states are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Obama won all of them in 2008. Each could go either way next year, and Obama needs to win half of their electoral votes to gain a second term, according to USA Today.

The portion of voters in those states who identify themselves as Democratic or Democratic-leaning has dropped 4 percentage points since 2008, while the portion of Republicans has risen 5 points.

In 2008, when Obama won those states by 8 percentage points, Democrats led Republicans in party identification by a whopping 11 points. Now, the Democrats’ edge is a statistically insignificant 2 points.

Who did they poll? Democrats that vote multiple times? I find this very hard to believe that Obama leads at all.

"The 12 states are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin."

For eon's I have been saying watch MI, OH, PA and WI.

With Michigan being the Ultimate Battleground. Watch Gingrich make a big play for the Catholic Macomb County "Reagan Republicans".

I understand the dead voting, however how does one poll the dead?

OK - I’m fed up with polls.

What I need to know is which candidates own dogs or cats, how many and what breeds. How old are their pets and do they travel with them?

Important stuff!!!

They go to a graveyard and shout "If anyone is not going to vote for Obama please say so", then they figure they must all be for Obama since they didn't hear anything and count it accordingly.

USA Today/Gallup poll - I linked to the site but didn’t see a link to the cited poll. Of course, I’m blind.

But that should also mobilize our side.

Perhaps newt should pick a VP that is from one of these states?

Perhaps that VP choice should be Hispanic?

“my cat could beat obozo”

Love your optimism. I could use 10 more of you to keep away liberals from my annual Christmas barbeque party. The doggone hippies rise out of the cracks in the sidewalks for free ribs, baked potatoes and salad.

Send me your cat, please. Thank you.

I think the nationwide polls will move in our favor. But the facts are we really don't care how big a victory Obama achieves in California and New York. We care who wins those 12 swing states. Right now we are winning in the 12 states that will actually decide the election.

I notice even the Romneybots on FOX are realizing their guy is a lemon. They are starting to say nicer things about Newt. Ed Rollins was positively gushing today about how tough an opponent for Obama Newt will be.
