More Americans than ever say they celebrate the upcoming holiday of Christmas as a religious one.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 88% of American Adults say they celebrate Christmas, and 81% of this group celebrate it as a religious holiday. Just 16% of those celebrants regard it as a secular holiday.
(88% celebrate it) x (16% of those do so as a secular holiday) = 14.08% celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday
12% do not celebrate Christmas at all (or would not answer the question)
Ohhh, this will not make the demon-infected left happy.
I don’t know about the math in this, but overall this is great news. I don’t even mind the 16 percent who celebrate it as a secular holiday because as long as Christmas survives I will be happy. I do feel sorry for kids who attend public schools though....no fun. My kids go to Catholic School and they still have a full Christmas pageant with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus....not to mention tons of fatty cookies and cakes to eat after. It is just delightful to see that schools still do this type of thing. Unfortunately for public school kids that is not reality.
Personally I see a silver lining in a crappy economy at Christmas. It seems to be driving my family toward a more traditional Christmas less focused on presents and more focused on family and God.

I think I know what this article is getting at. But if someone wants to get out the Bible and show me where it says to celebrate December 25 as a holy day, then....
“Peace on earth, good will toward all men”... trumps religion.. and politics..

More validation that this country is still a Christian nation. I think Easter is the truest Christian holiday of all, and that it’s just a guess that Christmas is the date of His birth, but that’s still “the reason for the season”.

holiday: holy day
holy day: a day set aside for special religious observance
holy: showing a devotion to God and to a life of virtue
How in blazes can anyone describe Christmas as a “secular holiday?”

Why do want to nitpick on this thread?
The world stops on December 25 each year to celebrate the fact that Jesus the Savior was born as a man in the humblest of circumstances.
The thread does not say anything about the actual date of birth.
The day is holy because it is a day to remember that God chose to enter the worlds as a tiny child so that He could make John 3:16 a reality.
If you don’t think that the birth of Christ was holy and the celebration of it is holy then “seasons greetings” to you.

My daughter’s “Winter Concert” was last week. They sang one non-traditional Christmas song about getting stuff, one miserable little song about the winter solstice, a song about a snow day and a twenty second Hanukkah song. It was awful... just awful.
This was our first Christmas concert in public school. I’m on a mission to make it our last.
As much as I understand the message I hate the graphic because it comes from that jackass Kevin Smith.
