Newt Gingrich Responds To Glenn Beck (He doesn't deny being a progressive)
WGIR AM 610 and 96.7 the Wave with Host Paul Westcott ^ | December 12th | Newt Gingrich(Audio)

Posted on 12/12/2011 9:09:39 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

when you're talking about Glenn Beck now he actually, the other day, called you a progressive on FOX Business channel. What do you say to that sort of claim?"

Gingrich: "I don't know. It depends on what standard you're using, you know? The fact is I balanced the budget for four consecutive years. And we did so by cutting taxes and increasing employment so people went back to work, they left welfare, they left food stamps, they left unemployment, they left Medicaid. Who else has that record of achievement? I worked with Reagan in '79, '80. I worked with Reagan in defeating the Soviet Empire. I think those are relatively conservative credentials."

Wow, another Troll.

Since you failed Math 101, I’ll make it simple. A vote for ANY R candidate is a vote AGAINST Obama.

As a conservative, I could not allow Obama to be re-elected and if that means a vote for Gingrich, I will do it.

“Roach Paul’s days in the GOP are becoming numbered rapidly.”

You’re probably right. Too bad for the gop nominee, though, because it’s obvious that he’ll be running as a third party candidate.

“Just as we saw with Rick Perry a few months back, there’s a big push on this forum to annoint Newt and smear anyone who disagrees.”

Yup. Can’t have any escapees from the Grand Ol’ Plantation now can we?

Newt has a record with good points and bad points in it.

He is more liberal and insider than the other candidates but Romney and Huntsman.

That did it for me. I’m supporting Ron Paul simply because there is nobody left, (yes Paul’s foreign policy concerns me). I cannot support an FDR boot licker. It’s not like Newt said this one time; he’s said it time and time again.

Newt, FDR was domestically one of the worst presidents of all time.

Why the heck do inner city kids (welfare people) need jobs?

They get everything free anyway.

Why should we let the left define the language we use.

Exactly. As long as we have all these banjo hitters who don't know how to focus on achievements versus liberal-dictated terms of discourse, we will always have a faction that is willing to hurt America just so they can be "right" about "Newt."

They are recognizable by their reliance on sound bites like "newt's baggage" or "newt's no conservative" or "newt's corrupt" or "he's a progressive" with no facts and no context to indicate they have any idea what they are talking about.

Didn’t Reagan say he was admirer of FDR?

Yes he did but all that means is that Reagan wasn't good enough for the squinty-eyed paranoids here who would rather have four more years of Obama than a Newt presidency.

The fact is I balanced the budget for four consecutive years.

If Gingrich really said this, then he is a liar. The budget hasn't been balanced in over 40 years.

I am troubled by Gingrich’s admiration for the enemy

I recall a well-turned phrase by William F Buckley back during the height of the Cold War: (Close para-phrase if not exact quote) "I never understood the logic of discounting or underestimating the strengths of your enemy."

What he meant is that it is dangerous to ignore or minimize what the enemy brings to the battlefield.

FDR was elected four times. Right or wrong he had to be offering something the public valued highly. It would be useful to recognize what that was and see how it could be adapted to conservative goals and principles.

Yeah, but he DID bring down Green Czar Van Jones and then later that Maoist b*tch giving an Obama Administration graduation speech in D.C. We will credit him THAT. (plus selling a lot of gold).

Beck has spoken of Hunstsman’s father as his “mentor” and Beck actually apologized to the elder Huntsman for comments criticizing his son.

Huntsman's father is one of the world's richest men and of course a powerful Mormon. But I doubt any of that had anything to do with Beck's supplicating posture.

Newt enjoys the verbal jujitsu. I’m happy to give him the same latitude given to those that have difficulty articulating their thoughts. It’s the completeness of the message that counts, and less so the delivery.

Fox has long since left the serious conservative viewpoint behind. Like any other network they are in it for the money and the long run. They will treat Newt the same way that CNBC treats him. Count on it. The days of "fair and balanced" are a memory.

Romney has zero chance of winning the GOP nomination either with or without Newt Gingrich. He can't win California. He can't win New York. He can't win Pennsylvania. And he can't win a single Southern state.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can shake off the blindness about McNewt Gingrich, and the sooner you can begin supporting a conservative candidate instead.
