Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says the Muslims he knows are "peace-loving and America-loving individuals."
At a campaign event in Cedar Rapids Friday, the subject of how to handle the threat posed by radical Islam was raised.
As reported in the Des Moines Register, Romney reminded the gathering he had grown up in the Detroit area which has a large Muslim community.

“Islam is Peace” Says President - Remarks by the President at Islamic Center of Washington, D.C. September 17, 2001
If he’s channeling anyone its Dubya.
Islam is a peace-loving religion. But you have to look at THEIR interpretation of peace to know what that really means. Submission to the moon god Allah is not an option for me.
Congratulations to the Kirtland High School Hornets Division 5 State Football Champions.
You should see the City of Kirtland its beaming with spirit! :-)
When Mitt grew up in Detroit it was white becoming black.. Muslims did not start to really immigrate until after the 60s when the demographics of allowed immigrants STOPPED FAVORING Europeans

And Myth is a man of principle, integrity, and deeply held beliefs.
Then the muslims that Ronmey knows do not follow islam. islam is a death cult based in oppression terror and death. Nothing about islam is compatible with America or being an American
Not defending Mittens here, but in the interest of accuracy, the headline does not match the quote. It is simply misleading because that is just not what he said, at least in this quote.
Sounds like Muslim pandering. I bet there were VERY few, if any, Muslims in his area when he was was growing up.
From Center for Immigration Studies:
In 1970, fewer than 200,000 Middle Easterners lived in the United States. About 15% (30,000) of them were Muslim.
For the purposes of this study, the Middle East is defined as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Turkey, the Levant, the Arabian peninsula, and Arab North Africa.
I wish I had supported Mitt, so I could pull that support, but alas, I never supported him in the first place.
That's a good point of argumentation:
"In the US, we have large numbers of people engaged in anti-war movements and organization. At the point where we see as big and as strident an anti-Jihad/anti-terrorism movement among the Muslim community, only then will the claim that Islam is a religion of peace have any credibility."
I don’t like Mitt, but honestly how in the hell is he or anyone else suppose to answer that question as a presidential candidate and NOT have the MSM blasting him for it?
He gave the PC answer that any candidate gives while on the campaign trail, nothing inflammatory or insulting that can be used against him later.
The big question is whether or not he believes what he just said, and I have no idea if he does or not. His answer is just like a campaign promise to me and is treated as such.
In Islam, the only peace is that of submission to Islam.
Much like Karl Marx defined peace as "absence of opposition to socialism".
