Quote from the doctrines of Mormonism:

Mormon prophets and leaders have counseled the members over time, to avoid gambling of any type. Doing so, leads one away from righteousness and into the hands of Satan. The Mormon belief is that it is an addictive behavior and leads only to destructive habits and practices. It undermines the value of work and motivates one to think that they can get something for nothing. In time, the gambler will deny themselves, as well as their family the basic needs of life. They will oft times steal from others to finance their addiction, which in turn leads to stealing, robbery, etc.

What most people are making of it is that it shows Romney’s head is in the clouds about money. Imagine an individual so eager to bet that much money in an off the cuff moment.......

I don't think Romney does "off the cuff."

The telling thing about Romney, is that he is so focused on trying to shake Perry off his back that he forgot how his $10,000 bet would appear to the voters. In Mitt's mind, offering to wager such a large sum would make people believe he didn't say he wanted the individual mandate for all the states -- but the "gong" sounded on his wrong-headed "bet" tactic.

Well, Mitt admits that he sipped a beer and smoked a ciggie but he did not inhale....

Amend to say in what might appear to be an off the cuff moment.

Whether he thought about the bet and the sum ahead of time or not, it certainly showed that he thought it would make Rick look bad if he didn’t take it, even though he knew he wouldn’t take it...how crazy would that be if he had??

And showed that he never even thought about how the grand sum would make himself look incredibly clueless about just how much money that is to most people...

I can't believe Mitt said that. I don't know why Perry is able to goad him but that was a spoiled brat remark.

By the way, Perry needs to come back and talk about his plan in Texas to offer a bachelors degree for $10,000.

Romney was willing to bet 1/5 of the average Iowan's median income or close to it. Funny.

Rick Perry had a great debate. Did his supporters proud. I was praying he would come back tonight....and he did.

When Mitt tried to indulge in gambling I think I heard a loud groan coming from the Church of Latter Day Saints.

I understand that drone could have been destroyed by small missile from Predator.

Gov. Perry MUST follow this up with an ad, proclaiming Obama’s incompetence putting the nation at risk.

Perry hung in there about Mitt’s book, versions one and two, with the first version having in it the statement about how the rest of the states will eventually choose the mandate, but the second version having that taken out.

Mitt said, Rick, you’ve said that before. He thought he had taught Perry not to take him on, when it was really Perry self made glitches that were at issue, not Romney’s overwhelming brilliance which he apparently thought.

So Mitt thought he would shut him up once and for all about it, and instead, made himself look bad.
