What most people are making of it is that it shows Romney’s head is in the clouds about money. Imagine an individual so eager to bet that much money in an off the cuff moment.......

I don't think Romney does "off the cuff."

The telling thing about Romney, is that he is so focused on trying to shake Perry off his back that he forgot how his $10,000 bet would appear to the voters. In Mitt's mind, offering to wager such a large sum would make people believe he didn't say he wanted the individual mandate for all the states -- but the "gong" sounded on his wrong-headed "bet" tactic.

Amend to say in what might appear to be an off the cuff moment.

Whether he thought about the bet and the sum ahead of time or not, it certainly showed that he thought it would make Rick look bad if he didn’t take it, even though he knew he wouldn’t take it...how crazy would that be if he had??

And showed that he never even thought about how the grand sum would make himself look incredibly clueless about just how much money that is to most people...
