Tea Party Leaders: Rand Paul is Wrong on Newt Gingrich
US News and World Report ^ | 12/10/2011 | Mallie Jane Kim

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul's media blitz bashing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as unworthy of Tea Party support isn't hitting its mark, at least not among leaders of the Tea Party Express, Tea Party Patriots, and Tea Party Nation.

"I want people to go out there and work for who they believe in," says Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer, who says she or any individual shouldn't dictate who people in the movement ought to vote for.

"These people are intelligent. They're not just sheeple that are following somebody," Kremer says, adding that Tea Partyers haven't coalesced behind one candidate yet. "They are looking at the issues; they're researching."

Rand Paul is such an unbiased source here.

>> He has a 90% lifetime ACU rating which ain’t chopper live {it’s not as good as Michelle Bachmann but it’s better than sanctimonious, righteous Mr. Perfect Christian, Rick Santorum}. >>

I would add this too: among that 90% voting records are many issues where he spearheaded the entire effort to get some great things passed.

I don’t really like these “ratings” because they give no weight to various issues and no weight to how influential a person is or is not. Having said that, a 90% rating does fly in the face of those who say he’s no conservative.

Give me a 90 percenter who gets things done over a 96 per center who does not any day.

when in a primary race, Republicans need to think along these lines:

When your guy can’t win?

GROW UP
SHUT UP
SIT DOWN
DEAL WITH IT

“...and concluded that Newt is the best man for America. I know all about Newt’s baggage and I also know his record as Speaker of the House. I am 100% behind Newt.”

bttt

Newt will win if he keeps this up:

Words strangely absent with Cain.

Sorry, ain’t buying your Kool-aid.

Big government Newt ain’t worth electing unless we want to lose to Obama. Didn’t we just learn from McCain?

Why the hell do we want a president so he can ‘get stuff done’?

Are you being obtuse on purpose or legitimately asking a question. The point is this: give me someone who is reasonably conservative who will successfully advance the conservative agenda versus someone who is very conservative but has not demonstrated any ability to advance that agenda any day.

ADVANCING the conservative agenda is exactly what we do need to happen.

Ron Paul denounced the Tea Party early on. He claimed it was a tool of the GOP and said he didn’t trust it. Yet his son was elected by the Tea Party.... So confusing.

“He has a 90% lifetime ACU”

The ACU has been thoroughly discredited.

Their chairman is a Romney supporter.

That statement is so ignorant as to border on the assinine - something Cain would probably agree with.

Newt was the last Speaker to balance a budget. He was the last speaker to pass welfare shrinkage. He was the first minority leader in 40 years to successfully engineer a take over of congress. McCain would never try, let alone succeed, at any of that.

To compare those two is witheringly ignorant. And Cain would agree.

As long as Newt doesn´t walk back his recent comments about the supposed palestinians, I´m with him.

I’m not a big fan of the ACU - but that is a ridiculous statement - but that’s not the point. Their scorecard is simply a mathematical computation of real votes. Reality can be computed as mathematical fact, even by an organization that has some Romney supporters in it.

Not everyone is driven by an obsession with candidates or people.

Newt and Bolton are right. I listened to the entire video address and like Newt I am a Bibi Netanyahu fan. I also liked Newt’s statement that Jeruselum not Tel Aviv should be the capital of Israel. Let’s bring this home Newt! Gingrich is saying what many American’s know and many politicians dare not say for fear of not being PC

One thing not being said here. Newt has not said this
either...he is now a convert to catholic religion...and
I am catholic, Xavier U., Cincy. Can his conversion be
a plus or minus....I think it would be an asset for his
many approaches to the complexities of government....so,
what say you????

Once again, the Republican Party will fail to field a true conservative. We will face a dedicated, unrepentant Marxist seeking re-election. God help us all.

“We think for ourselves and I can tell you that the vast majority of people in our Tea Party will not vote for Gingrich or Romney or Paul.”

“You crack me up. In the very same sentence you claim that people think for themselves and then go right ahead and monolithically speak for them all just like Paul tried to.

You also claim the Tea Party has no leaders and them boldly proclaim yourself as “The Founder of the Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association” and speak for your whole organization. You brought a smile to my face :)”

I am not speaking for all of them. During our weekly meetings we take a poll of those present to see where the support is. I can tell you it isn’t with Romney Gingrich or Paul. Our members are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves.

Read what I wrote, please. “Founder” does not equate to “leader.” Our group has no leaders...just an events coordinator and a treasurer. This works well for us.

Puhleze, the self appointed Tea Party “leaders” do not speak for anyone but themselves. It’s obvious that those same self appointed “leaders” are foolishly buying into the meme that the only way to defeat 0bama is to be a smooth talking, flip flopping master debater. Principles and history be damned.

Good heavens, Newt has pushed the very thing that got the Tea Party into hyper drive, the Individual Mandate! Let’s not forget the other big gov’t policies of ethanol subsidies, cap and trade, and enriching himself with Fanny & Freddie while home owners got royally screwed.

I also don’t get how supposed strict small government, fiscal conservatives who are staunchly pro 2A can give this wannabe gun grabber the time of day much less the drooling support because he talks pretty.
