Are you kidding. Free Republic is only interesting after a pop or two or three
I am looking for input, is the tv up to snuff?
No it is not 3D capable, but I really am not looking for 3D. This TV is for a special media room, not the LR.
I recently bought a Phillips 55 Inch TV from Sams for about $950. Model number is 55PLFL570D/F7.
The HD picture quality is incredibly good.
This will be a DVD tv for the most part. Do not have cable.
You got that 70 hooked up to a good set of rabbit ears in the double-wide or what? Cinerama! :-)

You are buying a Cadillac (pre-government motors compliment intended).

Thanks for the feedback. I should probably have a movie night with Freepers, complete with with popcorn.
I am on my second small sherry and I find it hilarious. Good Grief, that sounds like I am someone’s old maiden aunt.
It’s nice to know that old maids are the target niche for my sense of humor.
lol
No DVD.
Blu-Ray or don’t bother. I used to be a doubter but there is no comparison. Resolution is the advantage of 1080P, why put a low resolution video source into it? Refresh rate minimum is 120Hz. Everyone can see weakness of 60Hz refresh on live sports.
I sit in a recliner right in front of a big VIZIO HDTV.
We’re talking 3ft here. I use it as my computer
monitor. I ain’t never goin back to that dinky
21” monitor, no way. :-)
Blu ray disks and HD from youtube look wondeful!
I’m watching the HD versions of the series WW2 in HD
just now.
WWII In HD, Episode 1, Darkness Falls (FULL EPISODE).mp4 1,013,527KB
I hope by 'DVD', you mean Blu-ray. With a TV that size, you need to watch real HD, and DVD ain't it.
I think it's a fine choice if you can afford it. I have a 60" DLP, and will not upgrade to anything smaller. The reviews on that set look good. They make an 80" also. Enjoy.
I also watch old shows on Netflix, on my HDTV. What disappointed me about current shows, is seeing all the wrinkles, freckles and moles on stars that I thought had perfect skin. That's the downside of HD.
Its nice to know that old maids are the target niche for my sense of humor.

After that comment I think I’ll have another...
Priorities here. Do you have a generator on hand that’s capable of powering the set along with the DVD player and surround sound? You will lose power when you need it most!
I’ve seen that TV. I’ve lusted after that TV. But I am on limited income and have to make choices. But I want you to have that TV. You deserve it. And I want to come over and watch it with you sos we can be best of buddies. I prefer Sam Adams Boston lager and Lays® wavy chips with bean dip. Bravo Chickensoup. We’re going to have a great time.

Lust, huh? My luck to attract men with lust for machinery. Sigh.
I like Sam, but you will have to bring your own chips.
I understand that about BluRay. I will need to find one as soon as I land a tv.
the 80 inch is too big for my room. I also would have to sell the remaining children, which I HAVE been considering.
That is the same TV we have. Make sure you use HDM [or whatever] cables to get the best picture. We have a large living area and I can watch from any area in the room.
