The GOP was never very comfortable having the Religious conservatives in its ranks. After abortion, they got them by default.

But when the GOP abandoned its base in 2008... Obama won easily. I know Huckabee has more than his fair share of faults, but if it were Huckabee v. Obama instead of McPain? We would have the Huckster in office today.

So that’s what they’re calling it now?

Have heard most of those expailned by Newt in speeches or interviews recently and he has OK explainations that don’t seem quite the same as you pushed. I will keep listening to credible sources and what the man says that sound plausible.
For instance,
Newt explained that TR was conservative until he went 3rd party then saw the progressives as his hope for 2nd term. More or less jives with my impressions.
HC - he explained that Heritage first propmoted this and he agreed then until looking deeper when he and most other conservatives saw the potential for dem abuse (like we saw in nobamacare).
His position on ethanol is that as long as oil gets tax break/subsidies, why should ethanol be treated differently and that all energy tax breaks/subsidies should be gone.
There never will be a single perfect conservative candidate, so long as some keep nit picking with such minute and potentially mis-leading details, we will keep getting liberal dems elected. Right now, Newt “probably” is our best conservative, even with his warts, that can beat nobama and deliver our best chance of erasing years of dem damage.
Enough of the sliming.... ENOUGH.
It didn’t take much digging, really.
I would be happy to hear that he went on a date now and then. But still, crickets.
That, an impeachment and a rape will make you a hero to the Democrat/Socialist Party.
Only if you’re a Democrat/Socialist, especially if you deliberately drag the story out as long as possible so nobody pays much attention to the plain fact revealed shortly beforehand, that you got illegal campaign contributions from the PRC, The Riadhi family of Indonesia, drug cartels, and fugitive felons such as Mark Rich, subsequently pardoned.
The answer isn’t to overlook the same pecadillos with a fiscal conservative. If a man violates his vows to his wife whom he supposedly cherished and loved, what other vows might he violate, made to an aggregate of strangers?
