My Dad Has Graduated from this life about 22:00 Mountain Time. All: THX TONS 4 Prayers
Step-Sister's phone call | 7 Dec 2011 | Quix

Posted on 12/07/2011 4:39:55 PM PST by Quix

My Blood Dad is dying in great pain.

He has broken his hip the 3rd time. His vitals are too poor to operate.

They don't even know if they can move him at all due to the great pain.

He has reportedly made his peace with God and forgiven everyone.

Please pray that he graduates from this life as painlessly and quickly as The Lord would wish for him.

Sigh. BIG SIGH.

This is mother's birthday and the day her father died.

Sigh.

I know some prayer threads are in this forum. If this is not fitting, please move it where it is.

I'm more than a little discomboobalated.

Thanks in advance for all the prayers and caring so typical of all of you.

THANKS Sara Johnson and TO EACH ONE OF YOUR FOR YOUR HEARTFELT PRAYERS AND CARING.

THEY MEAN MORE THAN I CAN ARTICULATE AT THIS TIME.

INDEED, YardDog; old codgers need to be quite cautious about potential falls and bone density.

Amen, AnnAlex; Bless you both for your caring prayers.

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Jim Noble Thanks for your precious prayers.

Combat_Boots, your comments are uplifting and needful. Thx Big.

Ditter, I agree in Prayer on that score. Thanks Tons.

Thanks Presently NO Screen Name--yes, we've told him he can go. Sigh.

I think he may be still somewhat fearful because he may realize more than ever that he's been meaner in his life than he needed to be, by far.

Yet, I'm confident that his missionary Brother covered all the bases on such scores when he visited a month or 3 ago after his first broken hip. He should have the confidence of his Salvation in Christ.

Thanks for every prayer by every one of you. They touch me deeply and have eternal impact with regard to my Dad. PRAISE GOD. ONLY GOD CAN REWARD EACH OF YOU.

Yes, DennisW--your exhortation here is priceless and vital, imho:

This is very tough and painful for you and me, the people who minister to these tough old birds. The best thing we can do is learn from fathers. In this case to never fall. I hope all old people never fall. Breaking a hip is very traumatic for them. Vitamin D 5000 units per day puts the calcium where it should be plus spoonful of cod liver oil on an empty stomach.

Waterhill--bless you for your thoughtfulness. May each moment with your parents be increasingly better; sweeter; more connected and mutually understanding.

Thanks for your thoughtful prayers Highway55 & Nothwithstanding and each one of you who have and are so pricelessly responded to this urgent need.

Thanks tons NowhereMan. I think Dad has been ready to graduate for 6 months or more in most respects. His quality of life had deteriorated a lot and he just seemed quite tired of it all when I was last with him. That he had renewed his Relationship with Jesus was the most vital issue. And that he'd forgiven everyone the 2nd. Thankfully, his Brother assures me those issues have been well taken care of. PRAISE GOD FOR THAT.

Thanks for your beautiful graphic and prayers Massmike;

Yes, DennisW, I am confident each and every heartfelt prayer of everyone so caringly responding on this prayer is impacting my Dad in spiritual ways . . . as well as me . . . and as credit to all y'all's Heavenly accounts as well. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS.

AGREED no-to-illegals. PRAISE GOD. THX.

Presently No screen Name; I don't recall what all the factors are contributing to a rapid decline after a hip fracture. I suspect that giving up because of all the pain and hassle is part of it. I think you can get the cod liver oil in capsules at Walmart. It's a priceless supplement vital in many ways, IIRC.

My Dad has had a hard time with his bladder incontinence and the bowel stuff must really be driving him round the bend in more ways than one. However, I don't know of much else that could break his stinkin' pride quite as emphatically. And that's a VERY IMPORTANT SPIRITUAL ISSUE BEFORE GRADUATING.

TheOldLady--thanks tons for your persistent encouragements; faithfulness in prayer and Christian Love. May God's blessings chase after you in abundance.

DollyCali--thanks for your priceless prayer and encouragement. Amen. Amen.

Thanks for the Scripture Glock Rocks. AMEN--MAT 18:20--FOR WHERE 2 OR MORE ARE GATHERED, THERE CHRIST IS IN THE MIDST OF US--VIRTUALLY, SPIRITUALLY, EXISTENTIALLY, REALLY EMPHATICALLY. PRAISE GOD.

Thanks tons freedumb2003 for your exhortations. YOUR EXHORTATIONS ARE PRICELESS AND QUITE FITTING. THANKS ENORMOUSLY. AMEN. AMEN.

MetMom--thanks for your persistently faithful friendship and sisterhood in Christ. Thanks for your candor and raw honesty. Thanks tons for your prayers.

Yes, boatbums. You are quite anointedly right, accurate in your prayer. Thanks enormously. PRAISE GOD. AMEN. AMEN. I do pray that there is some sort of Spiritual confirmation when fitting--for all of us still here. I'll have a lot of confidence regardless but I'd appreciate it.

LeftThatOtherSite--thanks tons for your kind caring and priceless prayers and for your faithfulness in God's Kingdom in behalf of Jerusalem.

smokingfrog--INDEED--THAT'S THE ONLY VITAL ISSUE.

LadyDoc; THANKS TONS FOR YOUR PRICELESS PROFESSIONAL INPUT. I'll convey it to my step-sis. I tried just now but she's unavailable on her cell. I don't know all the medical details.

It is not just his bones, hip, pain. It is MERSA, both kinds of incontinence, poor eyesight poor hearing and a lot of giving up on fighting all the hassles of living as has been the case for some months now.

I'm not sure what all they mean when they say his vital signs have crashed hopelessly but it sounded like some decent medical people really had run out of much they could do, in their estimation.

I also trust my step-sister. She's been fighting on his behalf for months now quite vigorously and tenaciously. I believe that if she believed that he wanted to hang on and there was a realistic chance, she'd go for it. She sounds like there's no point any longer. I can handle that. I don't think Dad wants to linger. He's fiercely opposed to the restraints and limited mobility. I can respect his perspective. I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS AND INPUT. MAY GOD RICHLY REWARD AND STRENGTHEN YOU ACCORDINGLY FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND FOR YOUR PATIENTS.

Thanks Bro John Grace for your heartfelt earnest faithful prayers and caring love. 10 X's back to you.

CMSGOP--PRAISE GOD FOR YOUR LOVING KINDNESS AND PRAYERS.

GetmeouttaPalmBeachCounty_FL--thanks for your heartfelt empathy and compassion and prayrers. PRAISE GOD. Yeah, I hate to hear of him in pain. Prayerfully they've gotten on top of that more by now but I haven't been able to connect with my step-sister again yet.

Joya; Thanks tons for all your faithfulness and persistent support and encouragement and for the offer of your car to make the trip. It didn't sound like he'd be likely to register my presence by the time I got there. I have 2 more final exam sessions with the 2 classes and I'll have whatever eternal impact I can have on the students in those--one tomorrow--and then see what the status is with Dad. I think I did what can likely be done in saying good bye to him on the phone.

JohnGrace--thanks greatly for those wonderful anointed prayers. PRAISE GOD.

My prayers are with you and your family. Please consider calling the hospice organization in your area. They can ease your Dad’s pain and help you and your family deal with the great loss you are experiencing.

THANKS TO EACH OF YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTFUL CARING PRAYERS.

May God reward each of you many fold.

BTW, My mother graduated within 5 days of my step-mom graduating about 6 years ago.

They do not yet think they can transport him to a hospice. That is the decision if and when it’s a workable thing to do.

It doesn’t sound to me like he’s going to last that long.

THANKS TONS FOR EACH OF YOUR PRAYERS.

Praying that your Dad, and you, will find peace and comfort at last as he passes on, Quix. That his struggle will soon be over. Just be sure to tell him you love him, even if he wasn’t always easy to love. Sometimes all those bristles are to cover up a deep hurt. May our Lord Bless you both.

THANKS TONS BRAD’S GRAMMA.

Dad’s wife—my step-mom, and my mother died within 5 days of one another 6 years ago in May.

That has rattled me a bit . . . I don’t know how I’d handle my step-dad graduating at this time, too. He’s still a great strength around here even though we are not near as emotionally close as I’ve tried to manage with him. He’s a ‘detached’ 88 year old full blooded Dane.

Anyway—my blood Dad sounds like he’s really on his last hours. Time will tell. I am thankfull the spiritual stuff is in order. PRAISE GOD FOR THAT. I’m hopeful that they are dealing with the pain there. Will find out next contact with step-sis.

THANKS TONS FOR ALL YOUR CARING AND PRAYERS AND ENCOURAGEMENTS NOW AND OVER THE YEARS.

THANKS TONS DEAR HEART.

I’ve communicated all that to him repeatedly and hours ago on the phone, too. He evidently furrowed his brow as he often did when I said things to him. I’m sure that was his kind communication that he was registering what I was saying as best he could.

PRAISE GOD.

I greatly appreciate your caring.

Thanks Big.

Take time and rest, friend. I lost my Dad too recently. Dad went quick (lingered only a few days). Wish I had more time with him, even though Dad gave me my lifetime. Still miss him so much even though a few years have gone by. Dad wanted to go the way he did. So I take comfort Dad went the way God allowed. Dad was lucky and in love with God and family, and he (Dad) and God had a relationship I try to emulate. Dad said do not cry for me. I will go into Heaven praising God and confessing Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Dad did I’m certain. Rest, my friend, and may your coming days and years be something to look back upon, as God’s Hand on your shoulder or underneath your legs for support. God is there! And God will do when we cannot. In Christ. Amen.

I am so terribly sorry to hear you are losing your dad and that he is in such horrible pain. Evidently it won’t be long before he is with his Lord and maker and then he won’t ever feel pain again. Just spend all the time you can with him talking holding his hand and telling him how mjuch hyou love him and will miss him but...one day...one day... you will see each other again. Stay strong but grieve when you have to...it’s your love for your beloved dad. Once again we are so sorry and hope and pray his suffering will be short lived. :(
