John F. McManus anaylzes the voting record and actions of former Congressman Newt Gingrich, revealing that Gingrich is not the conservative he portrays himself to be.
Oh for crying out loud, this is the second or third time that you have posted this John Birch crap on FR.
No offense, FRiend, but no one give’s a rat’s patootie who you won’t vote for.
I’ll vote for either. Do you care?
Gingrich lugs so much of baggage that he will be pulverized by the $1B Obama machine and the MSM. Expect an Obama landslide if Gingrich becomes the nominee. As George Will wrote Romney-Gingrich is going from “bad to worse.” Why do our primary voters always end up picking losers?
I didn’t realize Gingrich portrayed himself as a Conservative. He’s actually fairly comprehensive and gets into everything here and there.
Contributions often tell the story.
I look for a “hometown” candidate with broad appeal by families and small business. People all across the country - not just in the home state. Lack of massive contributions from companies like the Goldman Sachs. People employed by or owners of small businesses. A variety of industries - not just their favorite special interest group. Etc.

IMHO, drop whatever candidate you like. Take a fresh look at opensecrets for all the candidates. Think about who is really on the side of the little guy, not just talking the talk and then taking huge amounts of contributions from big special interests. Not to say that were won’t be some, but look for unbalanced concentrations.
IMHO.
Gingrich is just a different flavor of Romney. Perry is really starting to look good again. His “sins” are pale in comparison.
Who is not for Romney, but he is simply not eligible.
Romney had a Mexican born father. END OF STORY.
Ineligible Romney.
Ineligible Obama.
RomneyCARE.
ObamaCARE.
I am not fond of Newt and don’t trust him, but I still hate Mitt Romney MUCH MORE than Newt and trust him even less.
Push comes to shove, I could probably hold my nose and vote for Newt but I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER vote for Romney.
Exactly. There is no difference between Newt, Romney and Huntsman. They are all centrist republicans.
Amnesty, individual mandate, global warming and every trendy liberal cause in the last 10 years, Newt was there.
They are very similar but only Newt has openly attacked tea parties “radical rightwing social engineering” and in ny23.
In primaries, I will not vote for any of them. Amnesty is the main showstopper against Newt.
Well the press and the elites have managed to screw us again. Someone posted on facebook the other day a recording from a recent Roger Hedgecock show an interview of the guy who hired Cain at the NRA (he was the Chairman of the Board). He said Bialek was gone before Cain ever got there so when Cain said he didn’t know her and acted surprised, he was right. The guy said he tried to get this out in the press but no one would listen. Really pisses me off. We always buy into this kind of thing without thinking. If this one is lying what’s to say the 13 year affair lady (with NO proof beyond a couple months of text messages...mostly from her...asking for money) is telling the truth. Why shouldn’t we have as high of a standard of proof for the ACCUSERS as we do for the one being accused. It sickens me because we do this to ourselves every single damn time.

Newt fancies himself an intellectual with an answer for every problem. Unfortunately, he views government as the solution to every problem. I hope he has a genuine change of heart towards the virtues of smaller government. Government is the problem.
Many of the businesses might want a pro-growth POTUS, like Bachmann:
‘Congresswoman Bachmann received a 100% score in the Club for Growths 2010 scorecard and has a lifetime score of 94%. The average house Republican score from 2007-2010 was 78%.’
http://www.clubforgrowth.org/whitepapers/?subsec=137&id=922
You aren’t kidding about that. I said nearly a year ago that Obama was going to be re-elected, and I can’t believe that we’re sitting here witnessing it happen. Gingrich has huge support amongst tea partiers, and I hope that can be changed in time for the primaries.
Gingrich is Newt & improved!
of course not, silly. That's my point: Who will fill the bill after Newt is discarded? Huntsman?
But for those who can see Romneys statism as plain as day, it should be just as easy for them to see it in Gingrich too.
Glad you pinged Jim Robinson. He posted this;

Jim Robinson to *****
“It doesnt do our side any good to run down our leading candidate and falsely portray him to be the same as RINO Romney. Theyre polar opposites. Within a few weeks, Perry, Bachmann, Santorum and Huntsman are all going to have to realize they didnt make the cut. Theyre going to have to release their loyal supporters and hopefully theyll encourage them to coalesce behind the more conservative of the leading candidates and the one most likely to take the battle hard against Obama. And that would be Newt Gingrich. RINO Romney must be blocked and Obama defeated. Our future as a free country depends upon it.”
I couldn’t agree more. The relentless tearing down of someone who has a shot at kicking Obama down the stairs needs to be supported, not sniped at.
It’s common sense.
Sure is...to 6% of the GOP.
Do you know if that audio(or a transcript) of it is online?
Newt's record in congress is actually quite conservative. We can use his deficit reducing, tax cutting, budget balancing talents right now. And he's an aggressive fighter. We're going to need that.
Romney saddled Massachusetts with budget busting RomneyCare, taxpayer funded "safe and legal" abortion, gay marriage, leftist judges and a completely destroyed Republican label. And RomneyCare did become the model and impetus for ObamaCare.
Not to mention the fact that Newt has the support of the Republican conservative base and the grassroots tea party supporters:
Romney has the support of the establishment elite and shares the moderate/liberal RINO vote:
