Gingrich: I’ll make John Bolton Secretary of State
Hot Air ^ | 12/7/11 | Allahpundit

Via Mediaite, how much redder could this red meat be? The answer is none. None more red.

Who cares if it’s kinda sorta illegal to promise appointments as a candidate? Bolton’s a rock star among righty hawks and Newt knows it only too well. Dude, I think he might have just sealed the deal. Just one question: Would a Secretary of State Bolton get confirmed by the Senate? Granted, the GOP will probably have control next year, but the Democrats fought Bolton’s UN appointment under Bush tooth and nail. Their base would go berserk if they didn’t filibuster. And they might not have to: If the GOP’s margin is 51/49, say, it’s possible the Dems would peel off Susan Collins and Murkowski and beat him straight up. Gingrich realizes that too, I’m sure (as does Bolton), which is why he’s comfortable making this promise. For a variety of reasons, it’s unlikely he’d have to follow through.

We probably all find fault with one candidate or another, Newt is most likely the most media savy of the lot. A very needed quality this cycle.

Newt’s Day One Executive orders from his 21st Century Contract with America.

1. Eliminate the thirty-nine White House “Czar” positions created during the current administration. The president does not have the authority to appoint bureaucrats to power who are not accountable to the Congress.

2. “Mexico City Policy” of Respect for Life. Reauthorize President Ronald Reagan’s policy – also known as the “Mexico City Policy”— to stop tax payer dollars from being used to fund or promote abortions in foreign countries.

3. Restore conscience clause protections for Healthcare Workers. No American working in a medical environment should be forced to perform any procedure that he or she finds morally or ethically objectionable based on religious teaching. This protection should include, but not be limited to abortion. Existing conscience clause protections need to be strengthened.

4. Respect Each Sovereign Nation’s Choice of its Capital. Each sovereign nation, under international law and custom, may designate its own Capital. Accordingly, the U.S. State Department should be instructed to respect the choice of each sovereign nation and place the American embassy in their Capital. (Israel is the only country the United States discriminates against in this regard. The people of Israel have designated Jerusalem as their capital. Yet the United States retains its embassy in Tel Aviv.)

5. End the Attorney General’s Assault on the States. Instruct the Attorney General to withdraw all immigration-related lawsuits against states immediately, including those pending in Arizona and South Carolina. The Obama Administration refuses to enforce federal immigration laws, and instead sues states who are merely trying to enforce the laws that the federal government neglects. The Gingrich Administration will secure the border by Jan. 1, 2014 by any means necessary

6. The Keystone Pipeline
(Released: Nov. 17th, 2011)
Unleash American Energy by Approving the Keystone XL Pipeline. Instruct the State Department to approve a Presidential Permit immediately for the Keystone XL pipeline, a project that will send 700,000 barrels of oil a day from Great Plains and Southwestern states to Gulf Coast refineries lower staggering energy prices, and create up to 120,000 American jobs.

Can anyone name a better combination than John Bolton as Secretary of State and Dick or Liz Cheney as ambassador to the UN?

I second that Batman! This is going to get good! There’s going to more than sparks flying in Washington if Newt has anything to say about it....and he does and he will.

YA know if people take the time to look at Newt’s videos these past few years they’d see with their own eyes what he’s about NOW.... A changed man some have said.....but I’ll say that he’s definately a determined man as I’ve not seen before...He’s going to go for the juglars, and you know what...the American people are going to go with him on this.

Have you ever seen Bolton doing his thing at the UN? Remarkable and he takes no flack from them...like it or not.

Well, if Bolton isn’t running for President, voting for him to hold a position in the forthcoming Cabinet is the next best thing.

John Bolton as Secretary of State?

A step in the right direction, and if Newt really wants to draw a line in the sand, he should put the Senate on notice that if they were to DARE block Bolton by failing to confirm him, that he will appoint Bolton to SecState via recess appointment, and will continue to do so for as long as necessary.

Because you and everyone and the dog down the street KNOW that the ‘Rats will do anything possible to block Bolton, including voodoo rituals, human sacrifices, and flailing themselves with rocks and knives before an idol of Baal.
