Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whom some pundits had written off as the GOP's nominee, may find a second coming in Iowa, if new poll data holds up.
As Mitt Romney's campaign has suffered a startling decline in recent weeks, only to see Newt Gingrich eclipse the former Massachusetts governor's front-runner status, the battle for the Iowa caucuses set for Jan. 3 has become a wide-open race.
New survey data prepared for the Perry campaign and shared by a source close within the campaign shows that the Texas governor may be poised to do much better in next months Iowa caucuses than earlier polls predicted.
The survey by the Austin, Texas-based Baselice & Associates firm shows Perry firmly in third place with 13 percent trailing Gingrichs 29 percent and Romney's 19 percent. The poll was conducted Dec. 3-4.
But the internal polling data shows that Perrys strongly positive rating has jumped 6 points since the firms previous Iowa survey, just three weeks ago.
And, significantly, Perrys positive rating among likely Iowa caucus-goers is at a commanding 67 percent. And a stellar 71 percent view him positively after having seen one of his commercials.
Other numbers that suggest a potential rise: Perry stands at 78 percent positive among self-identified tea party members, according to the survey.
But he also enjoys strong support among Iowas undecided voters, at 71 percent............

I have the same problem occasionally. It’s when I am overwhelmed with information. This guy is working at the same time...and this debate format is not his thing. He likes to be prepared but the forums don’t allow it.
Things are getting better, Allegra. We used to have to read (or try to avoid reading) many, many more nasty posts from Perry fearers/haters.
Liz’s ping list has lost its fervor, and the remaining posters have a combined I.Q. of about 130 (that’s combined)
So just ignore them.
Darlin', if what you're posting on here is indicative of your own intellectual prowess, you really don't have any room to talk. ;-)
There are just a pathetic two of them now, bravely posting encuragement to each other, using small words so that they can be understood.
hahahahaha
If I could offer a wee bit of instructive criticism.... change your FReep name; the association of Monty Python with your played out vein of “humor” isn’t helping it - rather the opposite.
That guy must be Bucky’s half-wit brother....
that post was intended for Allegra, sorry.
and sorry for misseplling encuragement. I just got real happy thinking about their pathetic, declinging numbers.
hahahahha
LOL - a chew toy is fun for a minute, but then they just get so boring and disgustingly tasteless.
I guess it's all they've got.
LOL.....My sides hurt.
And Bucky was half-witted himself, so this one's kind of quarter-witted.
"mis daños del cerebro"
Nah.
Gong!
Amen
You're too generous.
I wouldn't give that combined I.Q. three digits.
Too dumb to get the reference, bless your heart.
She's not too dumb to get it; she gets it just fine.
You're too lacking in the ability to pull it off....ya just ain't clever enough. Very lame, Monty. Really.
Sux to be you.

Amazingly fluid.
2/3rds are ready to switch to another choice.................
I’m not sure what state you’re in, but yesterday ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) announced TX may experience rolling blackouts due to Obama’s EPA forcing some of our coal fired power plants to be shut down.
I am not sure what Newt’s climate change/global warming stance is these days, but I have no doubt a President Perry would make short shrift of the thugs at the EPA.
Have you ever looked at how much of West Virginia’s electricity is generated by coal, and how many of those plants are going to go offline? I guess Obama wants everyone in WV to freeze to death.
On the 2nd amendment, Newt Gingrich supported the Brady Campaign’s gun free zones, aka, Kill Zones. Governor Perry has stated there will always be illegal guns in these zones, he wants there to be legal guns.
I will happily take Perry over what we’ve got now. I’d take Perry over the other Republican candidates any day of the week.
