Statement by Gov. Rick Perry: U.S. Senate Should Reject Nomination of Liberal Judicial Activist Caitlin Halligan
AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement:
As New York Solicitor General, Caitlin Halligan used her liberal interpretation of the law to target pro-life Americans, gun owners, and gun manufacturers, and otherwise use the law as a liberal political tool. The last thing the American people need on the second highest court is another liberal judicial activist, like Ms. Halligan, who lacks respect for the U.S. Constitution.
The nomination of liberal activist Caitlin Halligan to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals should be immediately withdrawn by the President. If the President refuses to withdraw this misguided nomination, the U.S. Senate should reject her appointment to the second-most powerful court in the country.
Ms. Halligans confirmation has been vigorously opposed by the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, and Committee for Justice. Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously rejected her confirmation earlier this year. In 2003, as Solicitor General of New York, Halligan attempted to hold gun manufacturers liable for criminal acts committed with handguns. She filed briefs in federal court arguing for the unconstitutionality of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which the National Rifle Association described as providing essential protection for the Second Amendment rights of honest Americans[.]
Halligan also filed an amicus brief in arguing that federal RICO laws should be used against pro-life groups. She repeatedly attempted to hijack the federal court system in order to impose her own political beliefs on the general public.

IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

You haven’t seen Perry’s internals.
This judicial nominee is a real piece of work.
Bet she would be headed for the Supreme Court and tapped to replace Ruth B G.
When the republicans take back the senate, let’s hope they can, Kagan will be impreached...lying sack of chit.
What are they? (Perry’s internals)
That aside, polls aren’t going to cause me to develop Newt Amnesia.
This president’s tendency to appoint so many women should tell us something, I’m just not sure what.
If Perry learned something from the kick in the nuts he got after calling his base “heartless” he might get somewhere.
Newt is for amnesty and in June 2011 Debate Newt Gingrich called Americans Heartless for wanting to deport 20 million illegals.
"GINGRICH: No, but let me say this, John. No serious citizen who's concerned about solving this problem should get trapped into a yes/no answer in which you're either for totally selling out protecting America or you're for totally kicking out 20 million people in a heartless way. There are -- there are humane, practical steps to solve this problem, if we can get the politicians and the news media to just deal with it honestly.

There will be one shot inbound at Newt that will stop him dead in his tracks. It isn’t goin’ be that long either.
What, he's going to hold a press confrence and show us his x-rays and MRI scans?
Yeah, he did, and jerk wagons like you, that lie about it, only piss off those of us that watched that debate.
I was leaning toward perry until that debate, so put down the shovel, stop digging and no matter what Newt or any one else said, PERRY USED THE WORD HEARTLESS ABOUT ILLEGAL ALIENS.
He has learned something and he is definitely getting somewhere. His numbers are moving up in Iowa and South Carolina where he's now running third. Folks are giving him a second look and liking what they're seeing.
No, Perry did not. Check out your facts a little better. And behave yourself toward me. HEARTLESS was dreamed up by the Perry haters, he did not use that word. I’ve got the statement...provide me with the statement where he said heartless.
Be calm. Rational. Thoughtful.
Perry was talking about the single issue of instate tuition rates for children brought here by parents who entered illegally.
The children aren’t illegal immigrants, they are pawns, not actors, in the illegal immigrant invasion.
Anyway, he said if you want to punish children whose parents were the lawbreakers, you don’t have a heart.
This was shorthanded by the offended to be, you are heartless, and many portrayed it as referring to securing the border, other issues about illegal immigrants, etc, but it clearly was referring only to children who by federal law must attend our schools.
Those are the facts.
Perry then took the words back. He holds the same view about that particular issue, but he stated that he was wrong to impugn the motives of people who happen to disagree with the instate tuition law applying to children of illegals. He apologized.
Hey, for what it’s worth, I don’t care if you never change your views, no matter how unfactual and wrongheaded they seem to me.
Go forth in peace.
But staying calm helps, no matter the situation.
Again he never said heartless...Now Newtie did...but that didn’t offend anyone. Newt is a pretend conservative has no record to stand on. What he has is a progresssive record, which he is hiding today. Perry has a good conservative record to stand on and be proud of it. Whereas Newt and Mitt have shameful records, so they keep lying about their records.
