While Occupy protests in the US have been marred by violent clashes with the police, demonstrators in Melbourne have taken a sillier approach to dealing with authorities.
In a video posted on YouTube on December 3, a troupe of police officers is seen approaching the camp in Treasury Gardens, presumably to issue move-on notices.
But as they near, the protesters suddenly transform into "tent monsters".
Wearing their temporary abodes as costumes, they run circles around the police, giggling hysterically at their prank.
When the police realise there are no real tents set up in the park they turn around to walk back to their cars as 'monsters' cavort around them, skipping merrily and laughing.

Heee Heee Heee, Haa haa haaa, isn’t life a blast when we don’t have to work or pay bills, we can just mooch off the fools to work everyday. Heee hee hee.
Just like the Civil Rights marchers they so often invoke as ideological kin. Beings a tear to my eye.
Now I’m imagining a couple of Melbourne cops a few weeks later...
Cop 1: “Oi, Bruce. Ain’t that one ‘em blokes that was dancin’ ‘round wearin’ a tent at Occupy camp?”
Cop 2: “’Strewth, Bruce, yer right. Looks like he’s gettin’ a roight muggin’. Think we oughta go help ‘im out?”
Cop 1: “Naw, mate. Let’s go dance around ‘im gigglin’ while those big blokes finish that beatin’.”
Cop 2: “Bonzah, mate! Good on ya!”

That made for some very “tents” moments for the police.
“When the police realise there are no real tents set up in the park they turn around to walk back to their cars”
Walk back to their cars?
Not me..
If I were them, I would have called the nearest ‘funny farm’ and ordered the white coats to come and take them away!..
Talk about nuts!!!
Drop a flashbang and some tear gas inside their costumes, they won’t think it’s so funny after that.
How anti-globalization of them.
“Get a life” is not nearly strong enough.
Aww give ‘em a break. It’s probably the most creative thing they’ve done in their entire lives.
It wasn't a "sillier approach". It was a set up. The protesters knew the police were under orders to remove tents and so provoke an incident that would get them public sympathy. And it's worked.
Police conduct under investigation after 'tent' dress torn from protester
THE Ethical Standards Department is investigating a physical assault complaint over an incident in which police stripped an Occupy Melbourne protester down to her underwear.
The incident happened in the Flagstaff Gardens yesterday morning when police moved in to remove tents being worn by a couple of protesters.
Disturbing video of the exchange has been posted on YouTube.
Victoria Police released a statement last night revealing the Ethical Standards Department was investigating the incident after receiving a complaint.
"The Ethical Standards Department has subsequently received a physical assault complaint in relation to this incident and is investigating. As this investigation is ongoing we will not be commenting further."
The footage appears to show a council worker being handed a knife by police to cut the tent from the woman - identified as Sarah, 20, who begins to struggle.
"This is not consensual," she says as police work to tear the tent off her body.
"Dont take my clothes off."
After a minor scuffle police are filmed walking away with the tent, leaving the distressed woman semi-naked and cowering on the grass.
It was a set up designed to try and get police to do just this, with cameras ready to film.
