Of all the fans showing their support for Giuliana Rancic – who announced she will undergo a double mastectomy Monday – none have been more vocal or more visible than her husband.

Apparently she had this screening as part of IVF treatment, so I would think not.
(The hormones would trigger breast cancer to spread -— as would any pregnancy, I suppose. With IVF, you have the luxury of checking before.)
Oddly, seems infertility saved her life.
*sigh* there were the many attempts covered by their TV show to have a child by different means and then they learned about the cancer.

I have prayed for her and her husband. Such a lovely young lady.
I will confess to watching “Fashion Police” on E! on Friday nights. Guiliana is always fun on that show.
I am sorry to read that Guiliana is having this surgery done. I knew from the show that she’d had breast cancer.
I’ve watched her with my wife on Joan Rivers’ fashion show on E!. Not terribly funny, but always decent, which is exceptionally rare in her line of work. I wish her well.
Prayers for her health.
She had a history of IVF and a miscarriage and was preparing to start IVF again- I just wonder if the massive doses of hormones women take to prepare for IVF may trigger cancers? (such as I believe happened to Elizabeth Edwards)
Adoption and surrogacy can build families for the infertile-the human spirit and the desire of a woman to have her own child go beyond logic.
I do hope she survives and has a happy life, eventually with children. She sure lucked out by marrying a guy like Bill Rancic.
Funniest snow there is. Joan Rivers is side-splitting hilarious- top of her game. My wife started watching and I complained...now I watch too.

What happens is that IVF (or pregnancy) stimulates existing cancer cells so they become more aggressive early.
With IVF, you know it’s “coming” so you can prepare accordingly, but without a baby “on board” that would die from chemo.
However, she had 2 rounds of IVF before this crisis
She had an 8 week IVF pregnancy that miscarried , which is why she took a year off and started testing in preps for trying again...
aren’t doctors finding that pregnancies that terminate early (miscarriage or abortion) may be a cause in some breast cancers?

There is no link between IVF and causing breast cancer cells to arise in the first place.
There IS a link between IVF, miscarriage, abortion, and pregnancy causing pre-existing cancer cells to spread.
Hence, the careful screening prior to IVF and when women get pregnant -— the difference being when a woman gets pregnant, the chemo kills the child -— a tough, bitter, situation.
Unlike most of the dopes on E, I’ve come to be a fan oh hers. I hope and pray for a strong and healthy recovery. That is an horrific process to go through.
