...Against Paul, 42 percent of registered voters in Iowa support Obama and 43 percent support Paul. Pauls popularity among independents could be a crucial advantage. Paul leads Obama 42 percent to 35 percent among independent voters, according to the poll, and he also attracts 15% of Iowas Democrats. Not to mention that 16 percent of voters were undecided....

I see you are new to FR. I have been here a bit longer. I try to keep most of my post to the subject of cheese or the random Moose. However I agree with you. I am a 71 year old grandfather. I am not in an institution. I am still working full time as a consultant, and thanks to the fact that the company I contract with being afraid to hire, I am having the best earning years of my life. That said, I do have grandchildren that I would die for. This country in in big trouble and I have become a Paulbot. If I am willing to die for my grandkids, I can easily take the CR@P my fellow Freepers can dish out. The more I see the way this election is going, the more convinced I am this is our last chance, short of war, to save it. I am now part of the mile deep, inch wide, support for the crazy man. I don’t know what line you have to cross to be Zotted, and if this crosses that line, than so be it. If that is the case, my last request would be for my fellow Freepers to just consider if things are really as bad for America as we all seem to be crying about, and if they are, how in the H@11 can you continue to so glibly spout off about the “dope cracy, foreign policy nut”. At this point in time I consider the FED and Washington Elites to be a clear and present danger to my grandkids.
Of course he would. And people here can take all the pot shots they want, but the fact is that no one under fifty who isn't already a hardcore Republican is going to vote for Newt Gingrich, no one urban (not from Texas) is going to vote for Rick Perry. So who's left? Mitt Romney or Ron Paul. Mitt's owned by the bankers and the globalists.
So I pick The Crazy One and so will a lot of people, given the chance.
Sorry for the double post.
Laugh all you want - everyone i know who is on the fence and typically apolitical likes RP because he does not come across like a corrupt sleazebag like Newt or romney .
The status quo, on either side of the Welfare-Warfare Bandwagon, are scared to death of Ron Paul.
Their only weapons are to ignore him, demogogue him, and pretend he isn’t viable.
The only problem with those strategies is that the truth is a very stubborn thing. Eventually the masses start to see through it and then turn on those who have betrayed them all these years.
Ron Paul has already won.
He has everyone talking about Ending the Fed, ending interventionism, abolishing entire federal departments, competing currencies in gold and silver, etc.
Five years ago, if you mentioned those things, you were called a ‘kook’. Now it is mainstream because of his tireless efforts.
Moreover, it is the young and independents who are really getting it. That is the future of this country.
The tired old Welfare-Warfare Republicrats along with their Warfare-Welfare Dempublican cousins’ days are numbered. They will be consigned to the dustbin of history and we will one day thank Ron Paul for starting the r3VOLution.
No offense;
but we both know that if he is dead he will undoubtedly be voting for the dem.
You certainly will not get banned from FR for a negativive view of Dr. Paul.
Get real!
“I think Ron Paul would do considerable damage to the Dems.”
No flames here...I think you’re spot on. Alot of Paulbots are OWSers. I think he’d pull more votes away from Obama than the Repub nominee if he goes 3rd party.
No, he comes across as a completely insane lunatic who hasn't idea one how to handle foriegn policy, and lies about his non-pork resume.
You mean because Ron Paul doesn't come off looking like the complete sleazebags these two do?
I almost lost my lunch when I heard Trump say that the presidential candidates would be competing for "Trump's endorsement". Made me wonder whether the runner-ups get a free copy of Trump's new book on politics, by coincidence -- (wink, wink) released just today? So glad that Newt could help "his good friend' launch the book at the same time he hid behind the Donald to get in a few shots at his rival.
Tell me why he is a lunatic.
“Gingrich leads, but Paul most likely to beat Obama in latest Iowa poll”
I think it should read:
Paul is the ONLY candidate who can beat Obama.
Why?
Romney, Gingrich, et al, are all globalists, big government folks, have no spending reduction plan, and pander to the crowd on the issue-du-jeur. They are for NAFTA open borders, they love Nato, EU, Seato, and any other entangling alliance that weakens America and rips us off.
With those credentials, why not vote for Obama? (about 95% the same platform)
If you want four more years of Obama, then select Romney or Gringrich as your Republican candidate.
Sure, you can infiltrate FreeRepublic and tell folks how they ought to vote. Nobody will suspect anything.
I’m still chuckling...
;-)
...until I think about his ideas on the subject of foreign policy and then I realize that I need to pray for the man.
Yeah, I think you’re right on there.
The other thing that the GOP has a track record of nominating people who are programmed to lose. Dole and McCain are the two cases in point. Both these guys got good press, until the GE, when the MSM turned on them like a bad penny. I think Gingrich would get much the same treatment.
I think Paul would take a lot (if not most) of the Youth vote from Obama and most of the Independents too. Unfortunately, I think a lot of Republicans would also stay home on Election day. Personally, I’m really uncomfortable with some of Paul’s foreign policy beliefs.
What is wrong with his foreign policy?
Paul is a loon.
“What is wrong with his foreign policy?”
Ohhhhh my.....
