Gay and lesbian activists have accused the Salvation Army of discrimination against homosexuals because of its affirmation of traditional marriage and other Biblical viewpoints.
Its statement of faith does affirm that there is no scriptural support for same-sex unions as equal to, or as an alternative to, heterosexual marriage a position that has one LGBT activist urging people to skip giving to the Army altogether.
We are urging a boycott of the Salvation Army because it uses its selective interpretation of the Bible to promote discrimination against LGBT people in employment benefits and leadership positions within the Army, said Andy Thayer, co-founder of the Gay Liberation Network.
On its website, the Salvation Army offers its services to anyone without regard to sexual orientation.
While the words are nice, their actions speak volumes, said Bill Browning, editor-in-chief of the influential LGBT blog The Bilerico Project. They blatantly ignore the position statement and deny LGBT people services unless they renounce their sexuality, end same-sex relationships.
But with more shoppers still unsure about the economic recovery, such a boycott could have a devastating impact on donations that were already down as much as 10 percent after the official start on Thanksgiving Day.
Its a sad day in America when gay rights become more important than giving to the needy, said Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute.
Heres a better idea, he added. The next time you pass a Salvation Army bell-ringer, why not thank the volunteer and put a little extra in the kettle to make up for the LGBT grinches who will not be giving this year?
Some of the bell ringers are hired by the Salvation Army. They are usually the more cheerful ones.
Doubled my usual just to watch the lgbt activists heads explode
Doubled my usual just to watch the lgbt activists heads explode
This is the best advertising the Salvation Army could get.
Sounds like an extra reason to donate to me.
I have never know a more selfish group of people than the gay lobby. They never think of anyone’s needs but their own. In Illinois, Catholic adoption services were discontinued because of homosexual legislation.

A few Christmases ago the faggies were dropping phony fivers in the SA kettles with Lincoln on one side and a scolding lecture against “homophobia” on the other.
They are the biggest bunch of “me, me, it’s all about me!” people this side of the Occupiers.
I’m going to cash some twenties and find out which stores the bellringers are at so I can make a special trip to each one and help fill their kettles.
Faggies don’t own us. They only think they do with this administration.
I will make sure I double down on my contributions this year.
God bless the Salvation Army. May the abomination present on our planet burn in hell as God says they will.
That settles it. I will now go out of my way to drop money into the red kettles.
Onward Christian Soldiers!
Next they’ll want pink kettles.
I love the Salvation Army bell ringers at Christmastime! I fed a red kettle just today. One of my favorite Christmas traditions!
No. But they have liberal sympathizers that will do what they're told to do.
The Salvation Army does alot of good for alot of people. The only thing the LGBT crowd does is cause everyone else a tremendous pain in the azz.
He personally was agnostic but had no problem with their religious message since they actually "put their money where their mouth is."
Too late, freaks! I’ve been donating all my life and will continue to do so! Get lost, you Scrooges.
Me, too! The red kettle always cheers me up and makes me dig for a couple of dollars.
I had a friend who was down and out once. He volunteered for the Salvation Army and it saved his life. He is now a homeowner and proud grandfather of 3 children.

LGBT ~ Season’s Greetings pukes ~ same to you ~ freeze to death in the snow this winter and leave the rest of us alone.
I always give to the Salvation Army. I’ve seen them work, up close and personal. They work hard all year round, visiting nursing homes, and making sure all the residents have gifts at Christmas, as well as children. They don’t deserve the hatred of a few disgruntled gays. After all, the kids of gay parents receive gifts, too.
