Herman Cain to Endorse Newt Gingrich For President After Suspending Campaign
The Daily Mail ^ | 12-4-2011 | Staff - AP

With the Republican field’s first major test just weeks away, the failed presidential bid of Herman Cain is throwing his support behind the current frontrunner.

Sources told Fox 5 Atlanta that Herman Cain will endorse the presidential bid of Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Several sexual harassment allegations and a claim of a long-term affair left the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO’s White House bid all but destroyed.

"I backed Cain..........but there’s no way I can back Newt. His extensive Progressive Record precludes it."

You took the words right out of my mouth.
Not sure who I will support now.
Two I can't support:
1. Mitt Romney.
2. Ron Paul.

***What makes me even more furious is where is the Republican Party? The Republican Party is letting it all happen and doing nothing.***

The GOP organization is holding back for Mitt to emerge.

I agree. It makes sense. Plus, their 3 hour debate was extremely cordial, and there was absolutely zero acrimony at any point. It was nearly a conversation. I had a sense that the 2 men liked each other.

Newt Gingrich = John McCain without the military service, but with a bigger gut, more hair and more wives.

I'm kinda busy now, but that's just dumb.

I tried to give Perry an honest look for a long time. But after seeing not one single Perry supporter who could behave in a civil manner, I gave up on Perry. If Perry draws that kind of despicable person to his campaign, I don’t want anything to do with Perry.

I had much the same experience with Cain supporters. And while several Perry supporters were courteous to me, some Cain supporters played the race card like libs, and called me racist -- merely for accusing a politician of double talk!

There are pockets of Jonestown in every camp. Ok, I haven't seen any in the Newt camp yet... :) but it gets very overheated as elections draw close. The fine print gets harder to discern: "Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts."

I heard that Cain will endorse Newt on the news this morning and I’m so thrilled about this news. Thanks, TAFC! Love good news on a Monday morning!

I get the feeling after Iowa both Cain and Gingrich will fade away, especially if Cain is hoping for a VP slot. I hope Santorum and Bachmann have a strong showing in Iowa like Huckabee did. (I was not a Huckabee supporter)I just don’t think Romney will win Iowa. Gingrich just has way too much history and baggage and the libs will make hay out of it if he is the nominee. We don’t need another old white haired establishment republican running against Obama. He’ll remind everyone of the McCain fiasco.

“Now if Herman Cain is the running mate...”

I suspect that may be in the works. Newt has to pick a VP that will unify different factions in the party. Cain would be one.

I do wonder if Cain’s endorsement of Newt will make a difference though? Based upon the rhetoric I have seen, at least on FR, it won’t. In the general population of GOP members, maybe some.

It actually wouldn’t surprise me to see him pick Santorum or Bachmann to shore up the religious base. Although, there are risks with both.

Now if Herman Cain is the running mate...

He can't be paired with Newt. The President and Vice President have to be from different states.

Polls are frickle and will move up or down as the events happen. On the same page as the three person wish poll is another article about Cain's polling plunging to 8% in Iowa.

Cain Support dives eight percent

Cain is toast and won't be much of a factor one way or the other come time to vote.

Obama drives the car at 100 miles per hour towards the cliff while Mitt wants to slow down to 65 miles per hour and good ole Newt will do it at 55 miles per hour.

If Newt does what he says in the debates he's going to turn the car in the right direction.
