This weekend, ABC tried to paint Gingrich as arrogant by slicing his interview out of context.

ABC baited Gingrich, by suggesting that he would NOT be the nominee,
so then it was his duty to vet OTHER candidates (primarily Romney) that WOULD be the nominee.

Gingrich looked incredulously back at him for suggesting that HE WILL NOT be the nominee.
Gingrich twice explains that there was no need for that.

The reporter then speaks the EXACT WORDS he wants to hear Gingrich say:
          "You're going to be the nominee?"
and Newt repeats back the reporter's words,
          "I'm going to be the nominee"

ABC:  How do you respond to Republicans who say...
      if you don't draw the distinctions with Mitt Romney 
      and others who are attacking you...
      If YOU don't point out what THEIR perceived vulnerabilities are...
      Barack Obama and the Democrats sure aren't going to show 
      the same reluctance.
      And YOU'RE doing OBAMA a favor by staying positive...

   reporter was clearly implying that HE WILL NOT be the nominee]

Gingrich: They're not going to be the nominee... 
          
          I mean, I don't have to go around and point out 
          the inconsistencies of people who aren't going 
          to be the nominee. They're not going to be the nominee

ABC: YOU'RE going to be the nominee?

Gingrich: I'm going to be the nominee.

     And ONLY that out-of-context last sentence plus what follows, 
     is what ABC reported, and shared with other MSM.

     Most people will NEVER hear the reporter ask...

     YOU'RE going to be the nominee?

I do not see anything arrogant about ANY candidate in a race claiming they “will be the nomnee”.

His answer should have been -if conservatives select me, then I’ll be the nominee.

The only reason he comes across as arrogant is because he is arrogant.

And he is going to be beat in the face with that characteristic from now until the time he is defeated.
