The Wall Street Journal ^ | 12-2-2011 | JONATHAN WEISMAN, PATRICK O'CONNOR AND NEIL KING JR

Newt Gingrich moved quickly Friday to match his campaign apparatus with rocketing poll numbers in a presidential bid buoyed by new rules governing the GOP primary system that may give him enough time to prepare for a prolonged, state-by-state war with Mitt Romney.

Mr. Romney's forces, meanwhile, remained confident their formidable advantage of money, organization and manpower would survive the latest challenge to the former Massachusetts governor.

With an expected announcement Saturday by Herman Cain on his campaign's future, all sides agree that a Republican primary matchup between Messrs. Romney and Gingrich could last well into the spring.

Mr. Gingrich ...

One of my main concerns for Newt was his lack of organization and boots in the ground. Lots of work to be done and getting the staffers, volunteers, money and signatures to enter all the primarys will be a tough job. Romney has the money machine behind him and he is the darling of the Roves, Krauthammers, Imus and etc.
I am going to send him another check.

Cain is expected to pull out tomorrow so Newt should garner a large majority of Cain supporters.

I hate that the MSM is about to claim another GOP scalp. I seriously hate that crap.

I am going to redouble my efforts for Newt as the MSM try to destroy him.

Interesting article but if we’re talking money and organization, Perry has both to go into the spring too. No way am I going to agree to declare the election between these two before a single vote is cast.

It looks like a Newt/Perry battle in the end. I would really like Perry for Prez. But Newt would never take VP.

It just might wind up to be Perry.

Perry has a lot of endorsements, too. Granted, many of them are Establishment Republicans, but he’s second to Mitt overall in total endorsements.

Second in endorsements,
top tier in money,
large organization,
name recognition.

He’s got a long way to go to make a run at it, but all the pieces are in place if he can make the sales pitch start to work again.

I suppose we’ll see. Most of all, I am glad that “not Romney” is winning the race right now.

Congrats on nominating a RINO.

He will fail like all the others before him.

Either way the country will crumble as this was the last hope the conservatives had to right this ship.

A leftist Socialist or a Leftist republican....Both taking us over the edge and into the abyss of social and economic turmoil.

Serial Adulterer’s are always good to have leading a party.

I urge all real, true conservatives to stand up and fight this evil that is taking over the world. If we fail in 2012, dark days are ahead.

When there is no shame in picking men as our leaders who are morally corrupt and weak then God will turn his back on our nation and rightly so.

Newt Gingrich has a legislative record of conservatism, a 90% lifetime conservative rating and is a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

Newt has changed.

He is not the conservative he used to be.

He is a coward, a man who will run from the shadows of liberalism and only come to it when it beckons him to be it’s puppet.

If you can’t see this then you are blind.

Look at his actions and his words the past 5 years. Support of extreme left wing liberal causes and the support of lefty republicans in primaries.

Shame.

I am sure glad a solid man like Newt is winning this thing. Impeccable credentials. As Conservative as they come.

People are willing to settle already. Without a single vote cast in a single state for a single candidate with polls that have been unreliable, they can their man ushered into the White House.

And Gingrich has yet to be under attack yet. Those people can go ahead and settle.

I call BS on your opinion...

Newt is not an idolog... He damn well knows the majority in this country are conservative. Regardless of what you may think his feelings on an issue may be, he will support the majority, which is conservative.
