Gingrich Credits Wife for Sudden Rise; Pundit Cites Circumstance
Christian Post ^ | Dec. 1, 2011 | Stephanie Samuel

Republican Newt Gingrich credited his wife and blind persistence for pulling his campaign back from the brink of disaster in the 2012 race. But an expert suggests circumstance really controls his newfound fame.

Gingrich praised his third wife Callista, whom he said pieced his campaign back together after key staffers quit and media allegations crashed it, and his own persistence for his new lead in Politico’s eBook The Right Fights Back, released Wednesday.

Callista, he said, dug into the campaign, becoming “a very good surrogate.” Gingrich said he too dug deeper into the GOP presidential nominee race, refusing to acknowledge that the campaign was failing.

“I was the only guy in the room who didn’t know I was dead,” he said in the book.

News polls show Gingrich surging ahead of October front-runner Herman Cain and experienced contender Mitt Romney. The former speaker leads Romney by as much as 4 percent in CNN/ Opinion Research and Quinnipiac polls – a far cry from his standing in July when he barely garnered 5 percent of support in the polls.

N.C. State University Political Science Professor Andrew Taylor argues that all Gingrich may have really done was successfully benefited from the political mishaps of others.

“I think a great deal of what has helped was sort of the rise and falls and sort of failings of some his competitors,” he told The Christian Post.

[snip]

Gingrich said he ignored advisers who suggested his younger third wife, whom he met during an extramarital affair, should not be so close to the campaign. Now he said she has become as integral to him as Nancy Reagan was to Ronald Reagan.

I can’t identify it all, but she’s wearing a lovely Roberto Coin choker, with diamond enhancements. Probably $6000 on eBay, and $20,000 at the boutique.

I don’t recognize her rings or bracelet. She’s hiding her wristwatch, which has a full 18kt gold bracelet. I’d estimate a $30k Cartier Tank Francaise, or a Patek Phillipe 24-Seven. Or perhaps a comparable Rolex Pearlmaster.

Newt seems to be wearing an 18k Patek Phillipe Calatrava. A dignified choice at $5k on eBay, and $15k at the boutique.

Mind you, I’m not criticizing. I’m a Cain supporter who will breath a sigh of relief when he leaves the race, so Newt can put his heel on Mitt’s neck, and then defeat Obama.

(I’m sort of a jewelry watcher.)

I can’t believe the judgemental crap on here tonight. I guess all of you have led perfectly pristine lives, and so you have room to call her names like slut, and homewrecker.

I think they’ve been married now about 11 years. They seem happy. So who cares.

Was reading around. Newt married the first wife at 19. A lot of us do dumb things at that age. The second wife just sounded like a misstep.

Seems like he’s finally gotten it together w/ Callista. You know — not all of us are so lucky in love that we get it right the first time.

My own dad was married 5 times. He died single. Just was never lucky in love. I actually just sort of pitied him after a while.

I, however, have been lucky to have stayed married for 25 years. Sometimes it really is just a crap shoot.

I guess there is something to be said for having a conservative wife.

“Thanks for the correction. My bad. She is not a home-wrecker. She is a slut.”

Glad we got that cleared up. If she is a “slut”, is he a “slutee”?

Never mind the positive comments, you’re surrounded by malcontents who compulsively Newt bash.

One second after crying about how the GOP has lost its way supporting a man who committed adultery two decades ago, they reach a new level of sniveling by hurling personal insults at his wife. I think they’ve lost their standards faster and deeper than anyone they spend their time griping about.

Hypocrites of the highest order, they are.

Callista has handled herself very well and advocated for Conservative causes excellently. She would make a fine First Lady, and for once we wouldn’t have to worry about a GOP First Lady being a Progressive.

Let the muckrakers and mudslingers show their classlessness. Then listen to them bitch when their guy/girl gets the same treatment they dish out. They have no right to complain anymore.

Newt...please shut up about your wife. You sound like a pussy and we are not interested at all in her. We lived through the Clinton co-presidency. Do you hear Romney talking about his wife? Shut up about
is it #3? Pray they don't ask about the others while your at it!

We plan to elect a President not a fat goof who married over his head.
One more thing no more ass kissing Kardashian jewelry!!!!!!!!

Pretend you know what humility means at least until after the election! You got your second chance act like you know where the gift came
from Geez!

I like the watch. She has lovely jewelry that she presumably didn’t steal from anyone.

The watch bracelet look like a Cartier Panthere, but the oval diamond-set bezel doesn’t fit.

I love her necklace. I’d put it at 75 grams of 18k gold, with some diamond pave links.

Her hair is rather plastic, but she’s a lovely looking woman, and I’m sure she makes Newt happy.

The one true blessing of this election is going to be watching the Establishment soil themselves when Romney takes it on the chin after being the “inevitable candidate” for four years.

They we get to watch them brownnose in the desperate hope of having a seat at the table.

I can’t wait.

I married my wife 30 years ago. I have never cheated on her.

Newt on the on the hand has cheated on two wives.

He sucks.

Thanks for the correction. My bad. She is not a home-wrecker.

She is a slut.

She had sex with a married person with a failing marriage.

That’s probably half the electorate. Welcome to reality.

I’m w you! Morality sucks. Let’s all become Dems. They don’t care how much you sleep around, or whether a home is wrecked on account of it. It’s wrong to say anything is wrong. So one person may commit adultery. Another person commits murder. Only a pristine person should judge either them. The rest of us should ignore or even validate them. Maybe they are beautiful people inside. Who are we to know? And as far as the family that was broken up goes—it probably deserved it. I bet the first and second wives burned his toast.
