I actually don't care much about Cain's sex life,or anyone else's for that matter. I can get past that,if the person who wants to lead my country cares about the job, wants to keep us free, prosperous and safe, and respects the Constitution.
What turned me off from him was the way he and his campaign people handled it.This has less to do with the "elites",the "MSM" or any of that, and more to do with how Cain conducted himself in the days following the revelation.
First,he comes out with a two-minute denial. Then, the revelation of the pages of late-night texts and phone calls.
How does he respond? Well, okay, yes,he KNEW her during that time, but he was helping a friend.
Then, more interviewing of the accuser, and Cain comes out swinging with....well,okay,so I KNEW her,and I helped her,but my wife didn't know about it for 13 years, and my wife believed the explanation I gave her.
WHAT?

His response to the entire fiasco has been wishy-washy,poorly executed and woefully inadequate.
Cain ruined himself-with a little help from the media.
Now,you can flame at will, say i'm a (insert candidate's name here)bot, whatever. But it is what it is.Cain screwed the pooch on this one.

I liked him very much but always his answers on foreign affairs bothered me and also his campaign was run by amatuers. He cannot go toe to toe with Obama. I think, he should endorse people like Santorum.

For life of me, I just don’t understand why people are so reluctant on santorum. Conservatives don’t have to close their nose to vote for him

“Cain screwed the pooch on this one”.

My friend used to say that the only one who was consistently present whenever he got into trouble...was him.

I agree with your assessment, gimmel. and would add that I have noticed that he has not taken ANY responsibility for the mess that he has created for HIMSELF....just keeps passing the buck and continues to label the attacks as “baseless accusations”.
He also said during the Hannity interview that he is not guilty of “some” of the claims.

I am amazed to read on this thread that some Freepers think he is going to stay in the race.
Are you kidding me? He is so going to withdraw tomorrow. And then he’ll be sleepin’ on the couch for a while.

What a person is in his private life,he will also be in his public life. Character is character 24/7.

PS I think all of this has been a woven web of lies to get Mr. Cain out.

Cain ruined himself-with a little help from the media

That says it plain and simple gimmel.....

People can go on and on about his guilt or not....which really is beside the point...we've observed a Presidential Candidate showing us how he handles himself in the face of adversity and that in full view of the audience. Equally so how he handles the press.

When the first accusation came forward Cain made a reasoned and direct statement...and with that that his campaign would move forward. "end of story"..as he stated. But it wasn't... he could not resist speaking again and again and again... each time looking and speaking more foolishly than the prior responses as HE dug himself deeper into the hole.

However, he had a forgiving supporters who gave him the benefit of the doubt...not that Cain got himself out of the fix...his supporters did....and that was to his advantage more than anything whatsoever he said or did.

This last issue though is on a different scale altogether than that previous.....he's admitted he's guilty that he's had a relationship with a woman, conferred monetary resources of his family to this woman, and hidden it all from his wife over a 13 yr. period.

It doesn't matter how intimate or not the relationship is or what name Cain or anyone else might give it....it's infidelity on Cain's part for the fact 'he kept it hidden' from his wife for that long of a duration. Anything he states about it is simply trying to justify what can't be.

So now he's in a further pickle....if he stays in the race these accusations, and the fallout from, will continue to be a knot around his neck...the press will see to it and so won't Cain because he still hasn't learned to make his statements and move on. He just doesn't know when to shut up.

If he leaves the race then Obama/Democrates will surely see this as a victory for their side....as he knows Cain has been splitting the black vote which he desperately needs.

I hope Cain continues...but his wife certainly appears to have the last say in this. So we shall see....but when a man plays close to the edge of infidelity his "power" of influence will always suffer the most...and that at every area of his life.
