Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain is inviting his top supporters and donors to Atlanta on Saturday for a meeting in which he will give them advance word of whether he intends to continue his campaign, sources close to the campaign said Friday.
One supporter who has been summoned to the private session said he believes that Cain is likely to announce he is ending his candidacy.
Another who has been invited to the morning meeting says attendees have been told he has made no decision, but wanted to meet with some of the supporters to express his gratitude.
Several sources indicated that Cain is likely to announce his plans publicly at a news conference after the meeting. Cain had already scheduled an event on Saturday the grand opening of his national headquarters in his hometown of Atlanta, as well as the announcement of his campaigns freshly minted senior leadership team for the state of Georgia.

I understand that most people know little of the real Urkel but some of us do know that his “community organizing” was mainly directed at organizing his election to the offices he held prior to winning the presidency.
It is a form of precinct work which is standard practice in American politics.
Urkel’s presidency has reflected the weakness of that experience which was basically extortion.
You are correct as was Herman. Syria does export a small amount of oil it appears mainly for the foreign exchange. Ironically it might not hurt for that oil to stay in Syria so I still don’t believe sanctions would work. And the EU just put them on.
“You should be concerned about your own embarrassing lack of knowledge.” I am, I was misinformed by mysterious people. “Wow you look stupid.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last.
Yes
We were talking Cain at the past debate buddinski.
I know.
And there are other oil companies in Syria. They export oil - Cain right, arrogantsob WRONG
Nice work Sherlock
So nice try defending arrogantsob
WRONG, go back and read it. I was making the point that they had been exporting oil. not defending SOB.
who made himself look extremely stupid while calling Cain dumb.
Right, and now you've made yourself look stoopid by attacking me.
Nope. See 242.
Rocky wasn’t defending me just educating me.
Cain has never been elected to public office. Hence his shockingly dismal vetting experience. Blind faith and wishful thinking can’t cover a presidential candidates weaknesses. Sadly he remains guilty till proven innocent. Tango Sierra!
mea culpa accepted, arrogant. Anybody can get a fact like that wrong. But shows we should be careful calling candidates dumb so cavalierly.
lobster = i offer you my mea culpa. thought you were addressing me initially I read the reply name wrong. my bad
My statement was based on the situation as it existed around the time we were starting to go after Saddam so my knowledge of that had not been updated since then. Now that is definitely stupid. It wasn’t yesterday.
And who knows if it was just media BS in any case but it was definitely claiming Syria was dependent on a deal worked out with Saddam for its oil needs. Maybe as part of the “Oil for Peace” program the UN allowed. In reality it was the “Oil for Palaces” program and, of course, completely corrupt.
Cain is not dumb by any stretch. He is not politically experienced and that is not good. I would take him over Urkel a thousand times over.
Run as a third party candidate.
That says it plain and simple gimmel.....
People can go on and on about his guilt or not....which really is beside the point...we've observed a Presidential Candidate showing us how he handles himself in the face of adversity and that in full view of the audience. Equally so how he handles the press.
When the first accusation came forward Cain made a reasoned and direct statement...and with that that his campaign would move forward. "end of story"..as he stated. But it wasn't... he could not resist speaking again and again and again... each time looking and speaking more foolishly than the prior responses as HE dug himself deeper into the hole.
However, he had a forgiving supporters who gave him the benefit of the doubt...not that Cain got himself out of the fix...his supporters did....and that was to his advantage more than anything whatsoever he said or did.
This last issue though is on a different scale altogether than that previous.....he's admitted he's guilty that he's had a relationship with a woman, conferred monetary resources of his family to this woman, and hidden it all from his wife over a 13 yr. period.
It doesn't matter how intimate or not the relationship is or what name Cain or anyone else might give it....it's infidelity on Cain's part for the fact 'he kept it hidden' from his wife for that long of a duration. Anything he states about it is simply trying to justify what can't be.
So now he's in a further pickle....if he stays in the race these accusations, and the fallout from, will continue to be a knot around his neck...the press will see to it and so won't Cain because he still hasn't learned to make his statements and move on. He just doesn't know when to shut up.
If he leaves the race then Obama/Democrates will surely see this as a victory for their side....as he knows Cain has been splitting the black vote which he desperately needs.
I hope Cain continues...but his wife certainly appears to have the last say in this. So we shall see....but when a man plays close to the edge of infidelity his "power" of influence will always suffer the most...and that at every area of his life.
“Any of the candidates would be infinitely better than the current “Occupier” of the White House.”
While I agree with the sentiment behind this statement I don’t agree with the statement. Surely the current person there is a liberal ideologue, and frankly inept beyond belief. He’s not remotely capable of doing the job, and the vaccuum that exists because of it has create chaos around the globe. In a vaccuum others will take power and push their own agenda’s and that’s what has happened throughout the departments.
Obama wants certain things badly due to ideological reasons, but has little to no interest in the day to day of others.. foreign policy for example is a ship without a captain under this administration, oh sure a flare up happens and he’ll make a show, but day to day the inmates are running the assylum.
The same would be true of an inept ideologue if they were conservative. The job will run you over. This is a serious job that requires serious people, not someone who just throws their hat in the ring with no political resume. Someone like that gets into the white house, they will get run over just as badly as Fauxbama has.
Problem is Cain's recent ta-do was quite a bit more than being in the presence of another woman. For what ever reason men or woman for that matter, always seem to think they are smarter than the Almighty who states.."Be sure your sin will find you out".....no matter how you explain yourself.
I pretty much agree with your post...though it’s been a good thing that Cain’s been in the running. Had it been Col. West we’d be talking a different story I think...even if he faced the exact problems as Cain’s contending with. Just a different mindset and far more abilities under his belt. Yet even the Col. said he wasn’t ready for the Big Leagues...he wanted to learn “washington” and he’s doing just that.

"senator"..for one..which qualified him in the eyes of those who voted for him. However, it's a serious mistake to keep comparing any candidate to Obama....he's got the bar so low now that it just brings down CAin or anyone else who is compared to him.
I don’t think they waited. He was their worst nightmare. They had to knock him out long before the nomination.
Uh, the lion's share of us here at FR have long ago dropped the GOP in preference for conservatism.
That was funny. :-)
They get emotionally invested and lose sight of the bigger picture.
