Cain to End Candidacy Tomorrow? (Major Announcement tomorrow.)
Big Government ^

Posted on 12/02/2011 11:35:32 AM PST by sunmars

Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain is inviting his top supporters and donors to Atlanta on Saturday for a meeting in which he will give them advance word of whether he intends to continue his campaign, sources close to the campaign said Friday.

One supporter who has been summoned to the private session said he believes that Cain is likely to announce he is ending his candidacy.

Another who has been invited to the morning meeting says attendees have been told he has made no decision, but wanted to meet with some of the supporters to express his gratitude.

Several sources indicated that Cain is likely to announce his plans publicly at a news conference after the meeting. Cain had already scheduled an event on Saturday — the grand opening of his national headquarters in his hometown of Atlanta, as well as the announcement of his campaign’s freshly minted senior leadership team for the state of Georgia.

At this point I don’t really give a flying fig whether he stays or not. Cain was my last hope for a decent candidate and at this point even if he stays in his candidacy is basically over.

I couldn’t care less about any of the remaining stooges, so at least now I will be free for the next 10 months to concentrate on hating and disparaging anything Democrat while I wait for November 2012 to come around.

Might be some local races that catch my attention, and I might look into those, but nationally I don’t really care who the Republicans nominate. I 95% most-likely won’t vote for Romney under any circumstances, but will probably unenthusiatically opull the lever for NOT OBAMA in any other case.

At least now I know I can keep my wallet shut and tell the RNC to kiss my lilly white A$$ when they come begging for money.

I already left when they nominated McCain.

I have never been more disgusted with so many FReepers. I have lost many FRiendships over the absolute vile viciousness directed against Cain and his supporters, whether those people know it or not.

I’m not even going to bother voting for president. I live in CA, so I don’t get a voice anyway.

And everyone can save your “You support Obama” garbage, too.

I agree, of the two I’ll take Newt anyday over Romney.

I agree with you. I have always liked Rick Santorum’s consistent conservative stands especially on the pro-life issue. If a candidate can understand the basic significance of the legalization of abortion then they will have the correct slant on all things conservative.

Or that the only way to be safe is to leave your Christianity at the door.

Not at all... there's a manner in which it's done properly. If Cain had contact with Ginger White, his wife should've been read in on it. Part of being a Christian also means remaining above reproach, i.e., avoid even the appearance of compromise.

Why would you ask all your supporters to travel to Atlanta just to tell them you are staying in?

Santorum was hamstrung by his previous support for Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey and his subsequent loss of his Pennsylvannia Senate seat. A good man, but it’s hard to convince primary voters that you are electable as President when you can’t hold your own congressional seat. Had he run and been elected as Governor of Pennsylvannia, he would have been able to go forward as a winner.

Not all of us have changed, my FRiend :-) I'm standing right there beside you. And I know I'm not alone. In fact, I think we're mostly all still here. Some have jumped ship and they are very vocal about it. But of those I call friends, we remain adamantly opposed to the "borking" of another solid conservative.

I am a former Cain supporter, but translation for “I’m going to meet with my wife in a few days”= “I gotta have some time to figure out what I’m gonna say next”.

Mrs. Cain may be an understanding, tolerant, loving wife. In lieu of that, I would love to see her kick his sorry arse to the curb to the cheers of women cheat-ees everywhere.

And Herm: I gave money to your campaign but I haven’t gotten in invite yet to your sit down with donors. Call me!

“If Cain drops, I’m dropping the GOP.”

I am no advocate for the GOP, but why? Unless this was orchestrated ala Rove or Romney types, why be mad at the GOP if he drops? Just curious.

Sad. Very, very sad. Enough to make me want to kiss it all good-bye and write this nation off as lost.

Me too.. I have very little hope for this country's future. I feel blessed to have lived through some great times though.

This has nothing to do with Allegations, Cain’s campain failed for one reason and one reason only.. CAIN.

He’s not even a third stringer, had no idea what he was doing. I like Cain, he’s a nice enough guy, but he’s never had any chance of surviving an national campaign.

Be serious for one minute, this guy was bombing at softballs, and then declaring no cameras.. Seriously? You think the republican candidate whoever it is isn’t going to have to face cameras and scrutiny? Far far more than anything Cain has faced during a national campaign.

I know lots of real people with sunny dispositions, doesn’t mean that I’d hire them for jobs they clearly are incapable of handling.

Now, as to gutter politics, I really don’t give a damn if Herman Cain had an affair or not, and hell if he lied to his wife for 13 years while paying some woman money behind his wife’s back, don’t care about that either.. certainly think the latter fact lends credence to he was likely fooling around, but again, don’t give a damn if he was. What I do give a damn about is the guy can’t handle himself, isn’t deep enough intellectually or politically to remotely be anywhere near the Presidency.

He’s gotten chewed up and spit out by a primary process, and most of his flubs have been on softballs and small items, no way this guy could handle the big chair, not anytime soon.

We already have a man in the Oval Office who clearly is not capable of the demands of the presidency, and it is streamrolling him, and creating a far more dangerous world. We cannot afford another one, just because he has a brighter smiler and a sunnier disposition. I don’t care what letter is beside his name. Cain is not, and never was up for the demands of being President, and its damned good he’s gone now, rather than getting absolutely obliterated in the general election.

Believe me, I’d love to see someone COMPETENT and CAPABLE and VIABLE to the right of Newt and Romney, but like it or not, there isn’t anyone, and hasn’t been anyone. 2012 was a horrible class, but that’s the reality of what we have. Wishing someone to be a Reagan just because he says a few things you like to hear, doesn’t make it so.

Cain, wants the presidency? Fine, GO WIN A DAMNED ELECTION, ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING IN POLTICS, BUILD UP A BASE, HONE YOUR SKILLS ETC, before you put your resume in for the highest political job in the world. No one showing up with a resume that had ZERO military service, and Zero political service has EVER won the Presidency, there is a reason for that folks, and its not the MSM or the left wing, its pragmatic reality. You don’t hire inexperienced folks for important high profile jobs, period.

IF Cain stays in, I would vote for him.
Sames goes for Bachmann.

If someone wants a “perfect” candidate, well, then, we’re all out of luck. The media makes the Kenyan look “perfect.”

The only “perfect” man is already Lord of All, anyway.

I detest the MSM.

Thanks! I keep getting the feeling that there’s more support out here than we know. I noticed a poll in the Iowa Des Moines Register..they have him at 8% I think..then I look and there’s a 6.9% room for wiggle. While he was at the top..the pollsters stopped calling us..I’m sure they know we are Cain supporters.

When the rumors came out..they called all the time. When he started to make a comeback..they were silent. 2 hours after this last woman came out..the pollsters started up again. I do not trust any of them..it’s that simple.

(Thanks again.)

-- Why would you ask all your supporters to travel to Atlanta just to tell them you are staying in? --

Even worse to make them travel to find out he's quitting.

I read that he's had an office/HQ opening planned for Dec 3, for some time.
