At a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa Thursday, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said children in poor neighborhoods have "no habits of working," no one around them works and they get cash illegally.

Doubtless he meant that MANY of them fit the description. But count on the MSM to make it sound like a blanket statement (racism).
Out of context, but that doesn’t surprise me from our resident Newt-hater.
He’s not saying this to say they’re inherently lazy or “bad people”, he’s (correctly) saying that due to the welfare society, fatherlessness, etc...that they don’t know anything else. They don’t see successful people to look up to.
Granted, he’s broken a few rules on the “list of things you can’t say in public” a few times, and so far, his numbers continue to improve.
What? There's only one? Commence the purge!
But seriously, Newt is absolutely correct and I worked with a lot of kids from housing projects in the late '70s. I doubt things have changed.
Gingrich is such an ass.
Guess what, Newton, THERE ARE NO JOBS IN THE HELLHOLES IN WHICH THOSE KIDS LIVE.
For that matter, there are no jobs for kids in most cities. The adults have had to take those Mickey D’s jobs and jobs at the hardware store because the economy is so atrocious.
The parents in the poor areas are hapless, oh, I know Freepers like to say “lazy” but when your parents were raised in “the projects” and child molestation and drug use and beating is the norm, damaged people are created. When God has been forced out of everywhere, there are no guidelines except those of Satan, greed, sex -—it’s disgusting.
When the national administration teaches there is no right or wrong, it’s ok to cheat, lie, prevaricate, steal to get what you want........and Newtie, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.
The illegal aliens have all those jobs.
And in poor neighborhoods, nobody drives in the snow, nobody mows their lawns, nobody reads newspapers, nobody fishes and nobody golfs.
Newt is right on this one.
Sadly, I think it applies to the majority of kids these day, across the spectrum.
I guess the answer is to give them all government unionized jobs at inflated salaries the taxpayers will have to pay for.

OK Newt - wait till they turn 25 and give them amnesty.
Child labor laws would have to be changed.
I have a terribly cynical vision if this was instituted: kids would get a small amount of pocket-change, deposited into a bank account[I think you have to be 16 y/o] ...if the account has to be in a parents’ name, I envision the money being *stolen* from the kid by an adult, to buy drugs.
Also, the unions wouldn’t allow this.
Newt is basically an academic at heart (history professor) and likes to dissect problems so as to be able to discuss concepts and ideas. Any comments like this need to be taken in that light. He’s not being mean, he’s being honest. If elected, he will be one of the brightest presidents ever.
Yes, illegal aliens he would let stay have taken the jobs that these lazy criminal kids used to do and Newts answer is more government.
