Perry says he'd detain, deport every illegal apprehended

AMHERST - Winning the endorsement of Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Tuesday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry echoed his stance on illegal immigration today in the Granite State, saying he would support a federal law to "detain and deport every illegal alien that we apprehend."

During a morning campaign stop at Joey’s Diner, the presidential candidate said he would end the current catch-and-release policy that cuts loose nonviolent illegal immigrants.

Calling the policy "horrific," Perry said the future of America depends on the security of its borders. If elected, Perry said that one year after his inauguration the border with Mexico would be secure, with thousands of National Guard troops deployed and strategic fencing in high traffic areas.

“It is a federal responsibility to secure the borders,” Perry told a crowd of breakfast customers and members of the Amherst Republican Committee. The candidate said there is a need for full-time surge at the border.

This guy has been well done since day one.

I couldn't agree more. George W. Bush was deemed a moron by many but he was head and shoulders above Perry when it comes to running for the highest office in the land.

I never thought a man considered dumber than Bush or, 'like Bush only without the brains' would stand a chance in this primary presidential race. Turns out, Rick Perry himself has proved me right.

Huh? He wants to detain and deport every illegal, yet he also wants to give them subsidized college tuition? Makes no sense.

It gets even more confusing - Cincinatus' Wife posted an article a earlier this month where Perry was pushing for a US visa program to let illegal immigrants come and go freely.

It maybe flip-flopping on Perry's part or it maybe his campaign panicking with only 5 weeks left till the primaries, but it's good flip-flopping. I hope that Perry goes all out on this and makes it clear that he's serious about this..

Along with this, he should apologize for calling us heartless.

This could be his chance to get back into the double digits in the polling.

I may not be a fan of Perry, but he is not, and has never been, in favor of secession. That was just the liberal media pretending he was a fan of secession.

Tes that is what i said BUT it does NOT give them funds, They still have to pay for it.
They also must have attended a Texas HS for the previous 3 years and graduated in good standing or a GED.

I just hate when people misrepresent what was actually done.
What was done was bad enough without making it sound like Perry gave free college to illegal kids.

To repeat we should cut off ALL benefits to illegals except patching them up in a hospital enough to get back to the border if they are sick.

Cut off ALL benefits and they will leave and take their anchor babies with them
pretty simple and quite humane since we know they wouldn’t want to break up their family.

Illegals are not only stealing the identities of adults but also of children. There was a identity theft ring that was operating from hospitals in Utah. They stole the social security numbers of some of the children that had used the hospital and then sold the numbers to illegals. They preferred the children’s social security numbers because they could be used for many years before the child grows up and starts using the number. But we are supposed to cry salty tears for the poor illegals who totally run rough shod over us with no concern for us as human beings.

It’s time to clarify the 14th Amendment regarding birthright citizenship. Citizenship should not be given to anyone who is born in the United States to illegal alien parents. This would do a lot to turn off the illegal alien spigot.

What haven’t patriotic Americans been called? Bigots, xenophobes, nativists and anti-immigrant and much of this came from Republicans. The knife in the back is the deepest cut.
