The thing about Cain is that he is better than the alternatives. I fear that “the powers to be” control Newt and that he will throw it when the time comes or morph into a liberal if he were to actually go all the way. Either way I see disappointment in the Cain alternatives.

If Cain goes, I’m going Bachmann. Not that I have given up on Cain.

I think also that some of the candidates and would be candidates have received very serious threats of bodily harm.

I know that Cain has received them, and I bet that Gingrich, Bachmann, and Perry have also received them. From what I have seen on the blogosphere, these threats are directed at their families.

“... it was the constant droning of Contract on America that ended that congressional majority led by Newt.”

Not hardly. The liberals/Dems’ adoption of the term Contract ON America was over well before the GOP’s loss of its Congressional majority.

The Contract with America that Newt devised and promoted led to the GOP assuming majority status in 1995 for the first time in 40 years. Newt was Speaker until January 1999. The GOP retained majority until 2007, 8 years after Newt was gone, following a Rahm Emmanuel promoted “October Surprise” scandal involving former Rep. Mark Foley.

Neither Newt nor the Contract with America (9 of its 10 provisions were adopted within 100 days of the GOP’s majority in 1995) had anything to do with the GOP losing its majority in the House.

I see Newt as only being marginally better than Romney, while Cain is a true outsider who would do his level best to tear down the socialist behemoth that's destroying us.

Newt and Romney? I highly doubt it. They'd tinker around the edges (see: Newt's immigration plan and Romney's 59 page tax plan), but wouldn't be the type of radical reformer that the nation requires at this dire time in our history. They're both members of the old guard establishment, and owe their real allegiance to masters other than the American people.

If Cain falters and falls out, we're in real trouble. Bachmann and Santorum each had their chance, and neither could garner enough support to rise to the top.

Remember Michele Malkin’s niece who disappeared? Has anyone found her?

The Marxist thugs won't go after a candidate or conservative talk show personality. No. No. A second cousin will “disappear”.

Good on ya.

Bachmann doesn’t stand a chance but you have chosen someone who is actually running.

Sarah did indeed let us down...I was counting on her since mid 2008 to be ready. I knew it when she went on Greta after the book...she was a different person.

Alas.

Steyn is a Bachmann fan...as am I...but sadly she has faded.

I suspect Steyn will back Newt with hesitation like most of us.

folks here who trash everyone but Sarah or then Cain are just the way they are

primary season does not bring out the best in folks here

neither did Bush’s amnesty, Katrina or Schiavo and other schisms

what bothers me is how many use this conentiousness to lust for and plead for mass zots to purge the forum into a precise echo chamber whereby they can have it their way only and get orgasmic over zots like little teenagers

and to work pack like to accomplish it

disgusting and fortunately ..those with zot power...fall for it infrequently

I have never been a Cain supporter really ...not ever except a wee bit as a third or fourth choice but I get no pleasure in witnessing anyone on our side imploding

Gingrich is to the left of Romney. His support of illegal aliens is outrageous.

nice reasonable post

but about 75% here...in this time window

think Newt is a liberal

a guy with a 94 ACU and 100% right to life and a history of many important and monumental actions and at the time conservative proactive ...before Newt it was Magnus mainly alone in the executive branch

Cain was their pick after Sarah for reasons I find questionable in some case...his skin color for one...and they are now very angry he's imploding.

They would hate anyone stealing his thunder.

hell, they crucified Bachmann when she was stealing Palin’s when Sarah was not even in the race yet...they simply feared she might erode Sarah's entry...which never happened

some for these critters are just fangy people...they will bite at the slightest provocation

I hold Magnus, Rush and Newt as the 3 biggest voices in conservatism since Buckley and Barry...I woulda added Sarah but she stayed home

Your n00bie status makes your whole post a joke.

LOL! First off, I’ve been here over two years now so I’m not exactly a “n00bie”. Second, do you honestly think I’m even ONE SINGLE BIT impressed with you being on FR since 1999? Well, judging by your snobby and insipid post, which is completely devoid of anything substantive or intellectual, I can’t believe you actually wasted five seconds of your life and mine posting it.

I stand by my assessment that there are MANY reasons to be optimistic about the future and there are WAY too many doom-and-gloom posts here on FR. Now prove me wrong.

Jerk.

Yes. It appears we are going with the lib reasoning which is sad. The MSM is still all powerful and drives the news as to what people talk about. The rise of the internet and talk radio is important, but come no where close to driving people's opinions like the MSM does. Conservatives fall prey to the MSM daily. I have no idea what to do about it, either.

She already has a track record as a stalker. Take a look at Mrs Cain and then look at this latest sack of potatoes...no comparison.

Cain has my vote.

Precincts and some counties with D-friendly registrars may not enforce the law. After all, in ‘08 they let all those students who do NOT have residency in VA register AND vote.
The latest map “Dubya” posted shows that VA has ID but not photo. I’ve always show my driver’s license, even after moving from a red to blue precinct. Does your precinct require you to show your voter registration card or any other form of ID?

What's really outrageous, is that we're being forced to choose between these two fallen beings. They're two ends of the same turd. Which end do you choose to pick it up from?

From Herman Cain’s Facebook page ~

“From Team HC: The dictionary definition of the word reassess is: “To consider or assess again, especially while paying attention to new or different factors.” The definition does not sound like dropping out...”
