Here, let me explain.

Perry has less chance of winning this race than does Duncan Hunter.

The explanation asked for is why would Arpaio endorse Perry?

"The federal government has failed on border crime and border enforcement, and no candidate for president has done more to secure the border than Governor Rick Perry. I have been watching Governor Perry and Texas closely and know his border surge operations with state, local and federal law enforcement officials have helped shut down the illegal trafficking of weapons, drugs and people," said Sheriff Arpaio.

Cannot say it better! Out with Barry in with Perry!"

Oh, good point, why would a tough on immigration sherrif endorse an open borders guy? Beats me, maybe sherrif’s are appointed down there and he doesn’t want to mess up a good thing?

It’s probably that “stupid texas thing”, here’s the best explanation I can find ...

I agree that Perry will fair well against Obama in a debate. I only saw clips of debates and Perry did make me wince but Obama is an absolute nothing. Plus you’re right that Perry has the ability to get under others skin and he has already done it to Obama. Also, Perry has a sense of humor and seems to be able to handle being made fun of. Obama on the other hand can not, under any circumstances, handle ridicle or criticism. I really think if he has to face Perry it will totally discombobulate him.

Perry opposed it for Texas, but did you know we still use LEO's down on the border to assist the Border Patrol. It's mandatory. One of my relatives at Thanksgiving who works for the Highway Patrol spent 2 weeks down there and turned 18 illegals over to BP.

Perry did join with Arizona in the lawsuit to defend Arizona's right to pass that law though because Arizona thought it was in their best interest.

Perry and Palin both generate foaming at the mouth hatred. They both seem to be strong in the face of opposition. Plus she supported him in his last election even as all the other big wigs in the GOP (plus all the Bushs) endosed Kay Baily.

Grunthor, Obama needs a teleprompter to talk to sixth graders. Perry has the record to contrast Obama’s that Newt doesn't have, plus Perry is a true social conservative. Perry is also likable in speeches and in person. Newt is not.

Perry also really intimadates Obama, that should rattle Obama in the debates - unless he has an ear piece with someone giving him what to say.

The Tea Party of Texas is not an homogenous entity, we don’t have State wide meetings or a Platform, and we don’t have a leader that can speak for us. I’m a member of Texas Hill Country Tea Party Patriots. We have not asked for another Special Session.

With Hotze, Adams, and others against the Bill, what makes you think an expensive Second Special Session would be effective?

Special Sessions cost money, around $1 million to $1.2 million according to the Legislative Budget Board. http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/06/02/3124097/whats-the-special-legislative.html

“Obama needs a teleprompter to talk to sixth graders.”

I know.

“Perry has the record to contrast Obama’s that Newt doesn’t have, plus Perry is a true social conservative.”

I agree with you on Perrys’ record. I do not believe for one second that this election will have anything to do with social issues.

“Perry is also likable in speeches and in person. Newt is not.”

I agree on both counts. I also believe that sometimes a nation finds itself in such dire straights that only a true *rick can pull it’s fat out of the fire. We know that Gingrich is one.

Jurys’ still out on Rick.

well, since I am here in Texas I wont get to vote till March anyway, but if Perry is still in the race and competitive then I will gladly vote for him.

But my number one priority is making sure Romney loses.

I could arrange a very large crowd to help convince them.

Special Sessions cost money, around $1 million to $1.2 million according to the Legislative Budget Board.

Dead cops are more expensive. Just ask the widow of Officer Johnson, whom you mentioned earlier, or the 6 other Houston cops murdered by illegals in the past 4 years.

Where were you and your large crowd on June 24th or 27th? I was at the Capitol on June 27th, with friends, to let our Legislature know how I felt about their flaking out on the 24th. (After a weekend of emails to the same effect.)

“I like him,” Arpaio said. “He’s a man of principle, of good character. He did a great job in Massachusetts and I feel he’s going to make a great president.”

That was Arpaio endorsing Romney in 2008

I don’t think the election will come down to social issues either, it will be jobs and the economy. The fact Perry is a social conservative is a bonus.
