MONDAY, NOV. 28, UPDATE: EIGHT FOR NEWT. Following his Sunday endorsement by the New Hampshire Union Leader, GOP presidential candidate and former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich on Monday picked up the backing of eight New Hampshire House members.
Backing Gingrich were Reps. Laurie Pettengill of Glen, who backed Mitt Romney in 2008, as well as Glen Hill of Northfield, Don McClarren of Nashua, Joe Pitre of Farmington, Kathy Lauer-Rago of Franklin, Joe Osgood of Claremont, Brandon Giuda of Chichester and Ken Sheffert of Hampton.
Pettengill said that although she backed Romney in 2008, I have chosen to be with Newt this time because I feel he is the most conservative candidate today. He not only has the political know-how, but he will immediately put in to place actions that will renew America.....

Please add me.
As long as we are operating under the premise that this former Republic now suicidal Democracy can endure, Mr. Gingrich is the only candidate at this time that can effectively fight the domestic communists in Congress and the press.

I am smiling from ear to ear!
Exciting isn’t it! Makes me so proud!
New Hampshire isa notably left wing state. It is not surprising they endorse Establishment’s Nut Grinch.
Look, let’s be real: whatever you think of Newt Gingrich, he is loathed by the Establishment.

An Editorial: For President, Newt Gingrich

This newspaper endorses Newt Gingrich in the New Hampshire Presidential Primary.
America is at a crucial crossroads. It is not going to be enough to merely replace Barack Obama next year. We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing.
He did so with the Contract with America. He did it in bringing in the first Republican House in 40 years and by forging balanced budgets and even a surplus despite the political challenge of dealing with a Democratic President. A lot of candidates say they’re going to improve Washington. Newt Gingrich has actually done that, and in this race he offers the best shot of doing it again.
We sympathize with the many people we have heard from, both here and across the country, who remain unsure of their choice this close to the primary. It is understandable. Our nation is in peril, yet much of the attention has been focused on fluff, silliness and each candidate’s minor miscues.
Truth be known, many in the liberal media are belittling the Republican candidates because they don’t want any of them to be taken as a serious challenger to their man, Obama.
Readers of the Union Leader and Sunday News know that we don’t back candidates based on popularity polls or big-shot backers. We look for conservatives of courage and conviction who are independent-minded, grounded in their core beliefs about this nation and its people, and best equipped for the job.
We don’t have to agree with them on every issue. We would rather back someone with whom we may sometimes disagree than one who tells us what he thinks we want to hear.
Newt Gingrich is by no means the perfect candidate. But Republican primary voters too often make the mistake of preferring an unattainable ideal to the best candidate who is actually running. In this incredibly important election, that candidate is Newt Gingrich. He has the experience, the leadership qualities and the vision to lead this country in these trying times. He is worthy of your support on January 10.
Joe Osgood of Claremont!
western town on the VT border. Conservative area. Should be a big help out there!
Ruh Roh...
New Hampshire is not a "notably left wing state". That's a ridiculous characterization of our state. But you don't seem to know much about New Hampshire. There are 400 representatives in our House, so 1 in 50, or 2% of them have announced their endorsement for Newt Gingrich.
LOL! Where did you get that idea? Of course most people loathe a pompous ass, but the establishment would far prefer him to a conservative.
The “Establishment” has overwhelmingly backed Romney.
Members of said group who have not endorsed Romney endorsed Perry.
The Establishment has loathed Newt ever since he put terms limits in the House rules and made earmarks (pork) a dogfight (something Hastert reversed, resulting in the return of excess). They outright disowned him when he made social issues a key part of Republican governing.
P.S. Being smart does not make one pompous.
That may have something to do with the fear ofMormon Church.
R0mney is their White Horse in this election. So Newt lucked out!
my ancestors settled LymeNew Hampshire and North Thetford, Vermont. I’ve only been to my family homesteads twice, and I love the country. I also admire the pristine streets and that all cars stop if anyne is in a crosswalk. But none of New Englland is paericularly conservative, is it?
I thought you were a Perry fan.
This is great - hope it keeps happening - more every day.
You have to give her credit for keeping the IQ curve low around here!
