Remember a few weeks back when a Tea Party group in Virginia made a fuss about fees they paid the city for meeting space? Their argument, with which I agree, was that it was unfair for them to be charged thousands of dollars in fees when the city of Richmond was allowing occupiers to use public land without permits:
Its not fair, the City of Richmonds picking and choosing whose first amendment rights trump someone elses first amendment rights and we thought well thats fine, then they can refund our money. If thats how theyre going to run the city then they owe us our fees back.
Two weeks after this complaint hit the local papers, the Tea Party group received notice that they were being audited:

That is outrageous and totally unfair. Tea party should fight back.
Get a First Amendment lawyer folks.
well if the books are in order no worries. BUT it really smacks of double standards.
The city has no such audit authority!
Tea Party should simply schedule another event and just show up.
As a Virginian, I find this embarrassing.
One side has establishment support and one side has establishments ire.
OWS is supported by “The Man”
“In the audit letter signed by Cynthia Carr, Field Auditor for the City of Richmond . . .”
Don’t know how much influence the Richmond area Tea Party has, but they ought to find out what elected municipal official is the nearest supervisor of this Carr person, and then they ought to very openly target that individual in the next election. And if it turns out that Mayor Dwight Jones of Richmond is involved, he ought to be put on notice as well.
This is what tyrannies do...attempt to bury you fiscally.
OUR DEMANDS HAVE NOT CHANGED: WE WANT A REFUND AND WILL NOT SUBMIT TO ANY AUDIT
its called : calling their bluff.
It’s the clinton administration modus operandi to a T.
Two can play at that. The Repubs control the Govenors’ Mansion, The State Senate and the House of Delegates. I’m sure that a special audit of the City of Richmond, especially the mayors expenses, would turn up some interesting items.
Unfortunately I would not count on the Republican party or it’s members to do anything.
Republicans are noted for their lack of courage in defense of what is right.
“Now ask for an audit of the city. “
Great idea.
Your government at corrupt......
You're probably right. It seems that everyone who joins the Republican party undergoes an orchiectomy as part of the initiation process.
Let’s say everyone who runs on the party ticket.
