The governor did the right thing.

I’m impressed.

You should always react to smart-aleck know-nothings.

It can only turn out well.

The girl is lucky that she is not busting rocks at the State Prison Farm.

“Emma decided that it wouldn’t be sincere for her to apologize, and she didn’t want to give any more power to the governor,”

Ugh. What an insufferable little twerp. Now she has much more attention than she deserves. She is a rude girl, not a free speech advocate. She should apologize but should not be forced to do so. She's just showing what low class trash she is, first for the crude post and now for not apologizing for it.

If this had been a Dem Governor, she would have been brought to him in a headlock to apologize.

I've been listening to local talk radio about this for an hour. The concensus:

Yes, Brownback’s staff overreacted.

Yes, Brownback was slow to react to this, and the story grew legs (was on Drudge).

But I have heard NOBODY defend this student...who was one of a very few (50 I believe), who went to the statehouse to learn about government. She walks away from the experience with a ‘tweet’ about a make-believe encounter with Brownback, where the most intellectual discourse she can muster is ‘sucks’. And to top it off, her family is validating her trashiness by allowing her to go national, to get used and abused by the 24 hr news cycle.

If she’d said it to a Democrat, she’d have been forced to apologize and we likely wouldn’t ever have heard about her.

Dixie Chix got months of free PR for bashing a Republican president.

Let’s say it:

This “teen” won the PR lottery for bashing a Republican.

Good move by the governor, though somewhat belated. A political leader never looks good leaning on a foul-mouthed teenybopper, and the higher his office, the worse he comes off. Even if it was just overzealous staff, the buck stops with the governor, so I’m glad he intervened directly. That said, the little scamp needs to have her mouth washed out with soap.

And what liberal arts major is this teen planning on failing in?

Oops, forgot, no one fails a liberal arts major.

She’s liberal. She hates the Governor. Told me to go suck it after seeing him in person at a tour of the Topeka capitol. And She is unhappy with him.

Yet Sam Brownback replaced the loser working with Obama. Kathleen Sibelius. Sam is the best Governor of this state in years.

Worse still this female came from my old high school. What a story.

Most of the reaction to this story comes from the fact that Brownback is a conservative Republican who is hated by the state media for replacing their beloved leftist Sebelius. The KS papers trash Brownback every day for trying to crack down on Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills, fighting voter fraud, and other conservative moves. He recently proposed eliminating the state income tax, which drove the leftie editors into a foaming frenzy.

Was what she said nice? No. However, politics isn't nice. It's not civil. It's about power.

Staffers shouldn't have reported a student for saying that he sucked. It hits close to censorship and free speech. Kudos to Brownback for taking the high road.

How many here told politicians they sucked? Granholm sucked. Obama sucks, probably in more ways than one.
