So, why DID we have to hear about a no-fly zone over Syria from Rick Perry?

The weird thing about Governor Perry’s “Syrian no-fly-zone” moment was not that he talked about a no-fly zone (NFZ) with the Fox news pundits, and then reiterated his comments in the GOP foreign policy debate on Tuesday.

The weird thing is that there seems, in fact, to be a proposal for a Syrian NFZ – one in which the US would reportedly provide logistic support – and it took a GOP candidate to tell us about it.

Perry took a lot of heat for “bringing up” the idea of an NFZ for Syria. But foreign news agencies have been furiously reporting for nearly a week that negotiations are underway for such a measure. The plan, as sketched out to date, would involve Arab and Turkish air forces enforcing the NFZ, with the US providing logistic support.

Thanks. Just trying to figure out the people on Liz’s ping list... who they are for and why they make it their life’s mission to come on Perry threads to disrupt.

The USS Bush is off Syrian coast already. As is the Russian carrier Kuznetzov. Both have supporting vessels.

Meanwhile Iranian "advisers" continue to arrive at Latakia.

Someone needs to tell Obi, this ain't Libya!

The USS Bush is in France on a port call. Link

I suspect she's on her way to the Indian Ocean to relieve the Stennis.

He’s to busy celebrating the start of a B-Ball season.

Apparently Perry is better informed than the media AND ZERO.

Despite his earlier insincere warnings about “foreign adventurism,” Perry is like all the rest: a reflexive apologist for the military-industrial complex and the U.S. as global cop.

Save it. It’s obvious he is serious about National Security, unlike the rest of the faux candidates running.

Interesting how supporters of other candidates make fun of National Security. Bet you think Muslim Brotherhood taking over Egypt is a real knee slapper.

“Apparently Perry is better informed than the media AND ZERO.”

That’s the truth. Plus, I would bet that he is talking frequently with Sarah Palin and others of like mind. Perry will be the only candidate left standing when push comes to shove for the GOP nomination.

Perhaps I should have stated Bush “reported” to be off Syrian coast. Many sources are claiming the carrier is near Syria. But your source seems better than Google...

You mean those foreign adventurist that are coming across our southern border to bring the Religion of Peace to your door step?

I suppose you think Pearl Harbor attack didn’t require an answer.
Pay attention, WWIII is very near if the Islamofascist get their way.

In Islam when Istambul falls The Great War is on.
Iran threatened Turkey just this weekend.

Nice straw man strategy. We needed to strike back when attacked at both Pearl Harbor and 9-11. Nobody in the presidential race denies us. Syria never attacked us.

Really, how do you know they haven’t tried. The are a Client state of IRAN. Straw man BS is not even relevant anymore. THE REALITY is that we ARE UNDER ATTACK, whether you acknowledge it or not.

Just read a report stating the Kuznetsov is still in the Barents Sea. So I better retract my earlier statement in regard to it being off Syria. Yet again, I had read several reports claiming it was there. Who the hell knows? The reporting coming out re:Syria is turning out to be as bad as that coming out of the recent Libyan conflict. Abysmal at best!

This point seems to be going way over the little whiney posters heads here.

Oh and way off topic, all of us can do the happy dance now that it's official that Bawney's Retirwing at this moment.

It actually sounds like Perry wants to help the Muzzie Brotherhood by imposing that no-fly zone.

Had a conversation with a friend this am I hadn't spoken to for a while. We discussed who we would be supporting in the caucus. I know this thing has had lots of twists and turns but we agreed we see no reason to abandon Perry. We both agreed he is the one with the record of accomplishment--economic growth, job creation, threw a roadblock in the path of run-away law suits, wants to reign in the EPA and understands the necessity of energy creation as a way of restoring our economic prosperity.

We'll both jump to someone else when we're convinced there is someone better but so far, it looks like Perry is still our person.

I wish Perry would propose a “no-fly zone” over the UN..

He has said he would not fund the UN.
