The weird thing about Governor Perrys Syrian no-fly-zone moment was not that he talked about a no-fly zone (NFZ) with the Fox news pundits, and then reiterated his comments in the GOP foreign policy debate on Tuesday.
The weird thing is that there seems, in fact, to be a proposal for a Syrian NFZ one in which the US would reportedly provide logistic support and it took a GOP candidate to tell us about it.
Perry took a lot of heat for bringing up the idea of an NFZ for Syria. But foreign news agencies have been furiously reporting for nearly a week that negotiations are underway for such a measure. The plan, as sketched out to date, would involve Arab and Turkish air forces enforcing the NFZ, with the US providing logistic support.

Did zero speak to this as yet? Or Pakistan?
Ahead of the field as usual.
Loved what Perry said about intelligence. I’ve long felt that it has been undervalued and underused by this administration ... also true during the Clinton years.
He’s probably talking about it to try and get out of the NVZ - No Vote Zone - he’s currently flying in.
Out with Rick Perry and vote for Steve Perry of Journey! LOL!
Zero is busy, my friend. I believe he has a golf date.
I’m doing a survey. Would you mind participating?
Are you a Cain supporter?
Don’t answer if you’re ashamed of it.
I’m guessing the Texas paint chip eater is all for it.
I did hear something whether it came from 0 or not I’m not sure.
Being the Governor of Texas for 11 years, I’d imagine he knows what or needs to be taking place.
Ahead of the field? Let me guess. You also thought Lindsay Graham and McCain were “ahead of the field” when they promoted the No Fly Zone in Libya, right?

And where will the aircraft enforcing the no-fly zone fly from? It was possible in Iraq because we had airbases in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. It was possible in Libya because they used the NATO bases in Italy. There are no such bases close enough to Libya to make it practical. Unless the U.S. parks a carrier or three off the coast, which kind of does away with the claim that the U.S. would only be acting in a supporting role.
You can bet Perry has those that are in top positions in the Israeli State who are for a Perry Presidency, who talk to him.
Obama was too busy being transparent and campaigning, to mention the NFZ.
I think Rick is desperate and just throws stuff out there to see if people like it. LOL
I wish Perry would propose a “no-fly zone” over the UN...
Anybody know of a “no fly zone” that didn’t lead to troops on the ground.
I would have said “end with troops on the ground” but I don’t believe any have ended yet.
Not a Cainiac nor a supporter of any other Pubbie candidate. None of them are conservative enough for me.
LOL...
