1 pm presser in Newton
Boston Globe:”US Representative Barney Frank, the states highest-profile congressman and one of the nations leading liberal voices, has decided not to seek reelection next year. The Newton Democrat scheduled a 1 p.m. press conference at Newton City Hall to formally announce and answer questions about his decision not to run for re-election in 2012, according to a statement. Frank faced a stern reelection challenge last year from Republican Sean Bielat. Nonetheless, he insisted he would seek another term.”

Barney had a very formidable conservative opponent in the last election and won handily. I suspect that the Massachusetts electorate is getting a little tired of garden variety Democratic hacks like Martha Coakley, but that does not mean they are ready elect real conservatives. Especially in Barney’s district there a lot of people who suck off the embolistic government teat.

He deserves another term - in the penitentiary!
Only in a women's penitentiary. Anything else and he'd be in nirvana.

Only a Scott Brown type "Republican." Hey, Scott's not all bad -- the League of Conservation Voters (or some such -- leftwing names all sound alike to me!) has been running hit piece ads against him for his votes on "handouts to big oil" (a/k/a standard depreciation allowances). Every time I see one, I want to cheer him on!
As to a Republican taking Barney's seat -- well, last time a really good young guy ran against him (name of Sean Bielat, IIRC). I don't think he did that well, but he scared Barney enough to make him drop a lot of money campaigning. And I believe (not sure) Barney's district was affected by our recent redistricting, not wiped out, of course, but maybe took on area not likely to be enamored of him or lost a section that loves him. I hope Bielat makes another run!

This.
There is something afoot.
Exactly. What ‘deal’ was worked out to protect his *ss? Why hasn’t something more happened with Maxine Waters? whatever he does, he will continue to live off the taxpayer’s teat. I guess this keeps the dirty Democrats’ dealings out of the news, Obama is campaigning after all...

Good News yes but I want the b’tard prosecuted for his part in the ‘08 meltdown.
I know it’s a tough call and we all probably have different opinions but I consider him the WORST of the Obumo, Reid, Pelosi, Dodd etc. cabel.
