Herman Cain indicated today that he does not agree with Newt Gingrichs position on immigration.
The way I would deal with those that are already here, which has been my stated position: empower the states to deal with the illegals that are already here, not some, big, grandiose, national one size fit-all. I believe that the states should be empowered to deal with the illegals that are already here, Cain said CNNs State of the Union this morning.
In response to whether that meant the states could allow illegal immigrants to be put on a path toward legalization and toward citizenship, Cain answered, It would be up to the states as long as they did not break the federal law.
But when Crowley used the word amnesty, inquiring if that it meant it would be okay if the states granted some sort of amnesty to those who are already living here, Cain vehemently denied he supported amnesty.
Im not saying that at all, he said
Secure the border for real, Cain continued, speaking about what his plan regarding illegal immigrants is. Promote the path to citizenship thats already there, and the path to citizenship thats already there doesnt say anything about amnesty. Thirdly, enforce the laws that are already there, but make it easier for companies to be able to enforce the laws. And fourth, empower the states. Dont give the states any special things to do, just empower them to do within the law what the federal government is not doing.

" hes not talking about the states having any different set-up or power to make policy, but just the ability to carry out the federal policy that already exists "
So the states won't be sued by the La Raza gang.

** " Sounds like hes saying that the feds should obey the law and just in case they dont the states should be able to make sure the federal law is obeyed. The states can hold the feds to the rule of law, in other words - so that if the feds wont do it the states will, just so the law ends up being enforced. " ***

Sit out the 2012 = OBAMA = no ability to “sit out” the end of the United States. I doubt that will go very well for you!

" If we could get the border secure ... and we could if we decided to and had the right president .. "
How many times Herman Cain has to say it ? or are some people tone deaf ?
He has said to secure the borders For Real, not just talk about it, do it....

" He isn't qualified to be the President "
Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution sets the principal qualifications one must meet to be eligible to the office of president. A president must:
be a natural born citizen of the United States;
be at least thirty-five years old;
have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.

" Somebody should clue Cain in that the US Constitution requires the federal government to protect the states from invasion.
Millions of people pouring into our states illegally is an invasion. "
Ah ? Cain has already made that clean, Secure the Borders for Real instead of just talking about it.
Cain's own words.
IN CONTEXT :
( *** CAIN: I would oppose amnesty in every form, because here are the four problems relative to immigration. It's not one, it's four. Let's secure the border for real. Not talk about. Let's enforce the laws already on the books. *** )

So all it would take is one state—and we’ve got a couple en route to majority Hispanic who would be so predisposed—to grant citizenship to as many of the 30+ million illegals as we have here already, let alone those who would have yet more incentive to join them.
Cain’s position on illegal immigration is as disgraceful as Gingrich’s.

" He is a neophyte of the first order. He is just making this $#I+ up as he goes. He is clueless. "
How so ? show us, give us proof...
Go to his articles and read his views on WND...

" If we could get the border secure .. "
What do you mean ?
Cain has already stated that he wants the borders made secure, and for real, no more talking about it, get it done.
To: Future Snake Eater
Cain is saying he’d let an individual state give citizenship to as many illegals as it wanted. And you agree with that?
To: TitansAFC
In response to whether that meant the states could allow illegal immigrants to be put on a path toward legalization and toward citizenship, Cain answered, It would be up to the states as long as they did not break the federal law. G'bye, Pizza Man.

What Cain is saying, is ? enforce the laws that are already on the books.
If they want to come here they will have to go through the present way of Legally going through the process coming into the USA.

OkRita, go ahead and play your little childish game of GOTCHA just to support your candidate. You have fallen into their clutches and show yourself to be no better than the creeps we are trying to oust from our government. You are the perfect example of the circular firing squad that we as conservatives are trying to break free of but noooooo, you cannot get away from that win at all costs attitude.
As I continue to comment on this forum, Let’s weight them all as though we will be taking all of them come a positive result on November 6th 2012. I would lay odds that almost all of them would be a part of the eventual administration in key areas of responsibility.
I really like Rick Perry when Rick is being Rick. Isn’t it ironic that the same people who bailed on Newt because he would not run a campaign like they wanted, are now running Perry’s? If Perry were to win, would we have another Rove “running” the administration and not the President? Remember, it was Newt’s longtime then advisers who stood by and let him do the couch scene with Nanzi who are now advising Perry. The alternative is Newt who seems to have a problem listening to anyone besides himself or someone who has made a very successful career of seeking advice and weighing them before coming to a decision based on all the input he receives. I do not want another Teleprompter President or to be constantly nuanced on any issue.
Just like my Jack Daniels, straight up and on the rocks cold.

That's a cop out. It is the job of the Feds to protect our border. It's one of their only jobs to be precise.
Cain once again is dancing around issues.
Rick Perry has been not only the most solid on this but the most consistent on this.No wonder Sheriff Joe is backing Perry and not Cain.
Come on Cain, can you be precise on how you would secure the border because only Perry and Bachman have a real plan they have articulated.
Enforce laws already on the books but if the Feds don't (that's you by the way Mr. Cain do you understand you must lead?) let the states do it?
Herman Cain has only removed himself from the responsibility of the President.

" Poor little newtie has no place to hide. Newt supports amnesty so now attack everything moving. LOL "
Now some are saying that it's the Feds job to deport, not the states job to deport... and a week ago they were saying we can't deport the illegals because it would be " Heartless " .... wow, Mexican double 2 step dance...
To: AlmaKing
Do you understand that Rick Perry already spends 400 million of Texans taxpayer dollars to secure the US/Mexico international border. Do you know if you work for the Highway Patrol you also have to work the border to assist the US border patrol. That is Texans tax dollars and officers taken off their normal patrols and sent hundreds of miles away to support the weak Federal response to this issue.
I have a relative who is a 15 year vet who worked the border not long ago and turned over 18 illegals to the border patrol by himself.
Herman Cain has no plan and Rick Perry not only has a plan but has shown how it's done. If he had the Federal resources he could shut it down in a year.
