Statement by Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Attorney Generals Amicus Brief in U.S. v. State of Arizona Case
Wednesday, July 14, 2010 Austin, Texas Press Release
Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement regarding Texas Attorney General Greg Abbotts amicus brief in the U.S. v. State of Arizona case:
All Americans should support todays actions by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and other state attorneys general in their efforts to uphold the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the right of states to provide for the public safety and security of their citizens.
The federal government has failed to secure our borders as drug activity and murder rates soar in many border communities. States are left with no choice. Until the federal government secures the border, I expect more states to legislate in an effort to protect their citizens.
Regardless of anyones feelings on the Arizona law, we must protect the 10th Amendment and right of states to legislate public safety to keep families and communities secure. I join Texas Attorney General Abbott in opposing the Obama Administrations effort to undermine the right of states to protect their citizens and govern themselves.
Cain will win in a landslide which is why they are trying to destroy him. They know they have a better chance against the rest.
Pray for America
Absolutely. Perry totally supported Brewer. But you may have noticed that the feds and the courts are working hard to negate everything Brewer has tried to do.
That is what he said 4 times. These gotcha interviews are pathetic.
Pray for America
What did Cain say about the states that have been sued for trying to enforcse the federal law?
Yes pray for America
hahahahaha
“You are partially right (although we are well beyond our share of uneducated, unskilled laborers). “ <<
The Anglo birthrate and the conditions you state are the reason the think tanks are turning over approaches to South America. The quickest fix, by the Obama tribe, seems to be Marxism for control purposes. Republicans, one would think, is to kill The Pill among the Anglos, and get back on track to control our borders, in order to rework an outreach of some kind to improve conditions beyond our border. I mean, the problems are at our door and will have to be dealt with sooner or later. Peacefully, or not. These people are in trouble, over run by cartels, socialism, and dictators on our continent.
Well one reason the Hispanic population is growing is because they actually have children. We don’t. When a society murders the next generation and fails to have on average the replacement level of children as the US has done then the natural consequences will be a shift in population demographics.
The ME generation did it to themselves.
Could you please show me where Cain says to allow the states to give illegals amnesty?
It appears to me he says that the states have to do what the federal law requires. The federal law does not allow amnesty. The federal law allows for deportation.
But then I guess you are one of those who is afraid of deporting them and would rather ignore that fact.
I’m not trying to be contentious, but perhaps his policy is that which he perceives as the best way to enforce that which you see as the ‘prime directive’.
In other words, he can conceivably send in the “feds” to all 50 states and enforce the law- or- he can tell the states to deal with their immigration problem in compliance with federal law- or suffer the consequences.
It’s not an abdication of responsibility- it’s a method to fulfill it.
I thought I had!
Read his quote about letting the states decide whether or not to give them citizenship, legal status, or deport them.
He’s fine with it as long as it is not done by the federal government.
No, you are clueless and always have been. He said exactly what should be said. You don’t like him don’t vote for him, but he is hardly clueless. Has an Masters in Math, worked in ballistics in the Pentagon and ran a number of companies. If that is clueless, what are you?
How would you do in these gotcha interviews? Bet you wouldn’t make it past the second question. You hear exactly what you want to hear.
Pray for America
He said they should be allowed to enforce the law if the Feds don’t, plain and simple. First we need to secure the border or the rest is simply hypothetical.
Pray for America
Thanks for posting that info. I was looking for it a couple of days ago. I was very surprised to find out that many people think that Perry was against Arizona and SB1070.
The one thing he has said that he had issue with was the way the law left the arresting officers open for civil lawsuits. He was looking out for the men and women on the front lines.
Which is irrelevant to the issue of whether or not he understands the Constitution or political realities.
He doesn't have a clue about the Constitution or the workings of the executive branch. Most Freepers have a much better understanding of politics and the constitution than Hermann Cain. He is a political neophyte who is utterly ignorant about the Constitution. He keeps proving this point.
Maybe we should no longer pay Federal taxes or drastically less and pay the Border States a lot more.
Thanks, I remember that now. I was not so happy with that part either.
He is a novice- I grant you that. But, I look at his resume- and when I see what he accomplished before he was 35, its truly incredible. And these accomplishments were in major corporations in high level policy positions top flight corporations dont usually promote people who wing it- or make it up as they go along- Maybe, he was just lucky- but I dont think so.
Now, your perception is obviously shared by many others and so well see. But, Im thinking that his thought process is that of an executive he does rely heavily on experts and he does delegate authority (e.g.- ok states, you know what the law requires- now enforce it). But ultimately, I think he has a very serious command on his processes.
Of one thing Im convinced, if he does make it, he can do more for constitutional conservatives that any other candidate - even Ronald Reagan. He can bring down the left and its Big Lie propaganda- and thats inestimable value. So, Im going to give him the benefit of the doubt. But certainly understand your reservations.
So are you a Constitutional lawyer like your beloved President? How is that working out?
You don’t like him, don’t vote for him but calling him names is below most FReepers. As in the past, it is the level you and your little gang of thugs seem to exist. Specifically which article is he misquoting? What doesn’t he understand about the executive branch that you do?
Pray for America
