Herman Cain indicated today that he does not agree with Newt Gingrichs position on immigration.
The way I would deal with those that are already here, which has been my stated position: empower the states to deal with the illegals that are already here, not some, big, grandiose, national one size fit-all. I believe that the states should be empowered to deal with the illegals that are already here, Cain said CNNs State of the Union this morning.
In response to whether that meant the states could allow illegal immigrants to be put on a path toward legalization and toward citizenship, Cain answered, It would be up to the states as long as they did not break the federal law.
But when Crowley used the word amnesty, inquiring if that it meant it would be okay if the states granted some sort of amnesty to those who are already living here, Cain vehemently denied he supported amnesty.
Im not saying that at all, he said
Secure the border for real, Cain continued, speaking about what his plan regarding illegal immigrants is. Promote the path to citizenship thats already there, and the path to citizenship thats already there doesnt say anything about amnesty. Thirdly, enforce the laws that are already there, but make it easier for companies to be able to enforce the laws. And fourth, empower the states. Dont give the states any special things to do, just empower them to do within the law what the federal government is not doing.
“Being realistic, all the candidates are for some form of amnesty, but no one wants to use the A word.”
Bingo. The time to howl about this was decades ago when our government failed to enforce and illegal crossing was not only ignored but openly encouraged with jobs. So, whose at fault here? Over our own failure, our fault, our ignorance and with our open encouragement, we’re now going to ship and split whole families? It will never happen in practice.
If you read the whole context, where Cain clarifies, he’s not talking about the states having any different set-up or power to make policy, but just the ability to carry out the federal policy that already exists, if the feds refuse to follow that policy.
The President has the authority, through the attorney general, to allow states to deport illegals- It appears that Mr. cain is saying he would exercise that authority.
When it articulates the proviso that the state must comply with federal law in administering any enforcement- he is merely expressing the necessary predicate that undergirds that delegation of authority.
John McCain said he wasn’t for amnesty either. Everybody says they aren’t for Amnesty. Gingrich said he wasn’t for amnesty.
When did we start just taking a candidate’s word for it, no matter what they propose? Apparently when Cain says it.
It would kind of be like corporate employee “buy outs.”
With due respect..... you need to read your own stuff....
“the Attorney General may enter into a written agreement with a State, or any political subdivision of a State, pursuant to which an officer or employee of the State or subdivision, who is determined by the Attorney General to be qualified to perform a function of an immigration officer in relation to the investigation, apprehension or detention of aliens in the United States (including the transportation of such aliens across State line s to detention centers),” INVESTIGATION, APPREHENSION or DETENTION, stops short of DEPORTATION.
The States have no authority to deport and that is not transferrable to the States.
You’re just seeing them hit back. There is a large group of Cain people who ping each other to Perry threads and then attack.
Why are you pinging me for Heaven’s sake? Cain’s not up to your standards. Other candidates are. Good for you. That’s what primary season is for. I’m not going to change my mind based on some rant of some anonymous person on an internet forum. People who have such a vehement dislike of another person as you seem to have of Cain tend to twist words, lift them out of context to support your view. You support who you want and I’ll do the same. You aren’t going to change my mind and I’m not going to change yours.

Watch the video of the Cain interview and then you will know who she is and looks like.
Didn’t want to take the bandwidth— here’s the relevant section that you request. Hope it edifies.
(10) Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to require an agreement under this subsection in order for any officer or employee of a State or political subdivision of a State-
(A) to communicate with the Attorney General regarding the immigration status of any individual, including reporting knowledge that a particular alien is not lawfully present in the United States; or
(B) otherwise to cooperate with the Attorney General in the identification, apprehension, detention, or REMOVAL OF ALIENS not lawfully present in the United States.

Perry attacked Arizona and told Jan Brewer to F off, he was no supporter of SB1070, Perry was too busy sucking up to reconquista and La Raza.
Any freeper who is serious about immigration knows this battle well.
Great rant... YOU Go girl! ; ~ )
Yes, it is for heaven’s sake.

Tell your Marine from this retired veteran: “Thank You for Your Service.”
It would kind of be like corporate employee buy outs.
Deserves repetition:
In all seriousness, if we ever got the border totally secure, it would be worthy offering $5,000 to every man, woman or child who self-deports.We'd come out ahead and they could live like royalty in Mexico for a year or two.It would kind of be like corporate employee buy outs.
Not a bad idea, at all. But they gotta pay a $10,000 fine if they are ever found in this country again.
Oh. I don’t watch CNN.

But we have to do something. Texas was 70% Anglo as late as 1980. By 2020 Hispanics will outnumber Anglos and by 2040 70% of Texans will be Hispanic.

We’re losing our national identity and becoming a third world country, yet our politicians are more concerned about the plight of illegals and offending Mexico.
It sounds to me like Cain is saying that if the feds won’t obey federal policy then the states should be empowered to do it. IOW, if the feds refuse to deport those that the current law says are to be deported, then the states can do it.
Sounds like he’s saying that the feds should obey the law and just in case they don’t the states should be able to make sure the federal law is obeyed. The states can hold the feds to the rule of law, in other words - so that if the feds won’t do it the states will, just so the law ends up being enforced.
Given the lawless state of the government at all levels right now, we definitely need SOMEBODY to be empowered to hold the government to obeying the laws in existence.
Linkage to source?
As with most things in legalese, removal of aliens may or may not equal deportation, in the portion you quote.
Perry supported Gov Brewer and the law. He stated that is was great for AZ but would not work in Texas. So you lie again, but I guess you have to. You already had to know all of this, so you just flatass lie. Good move Fred.
You also wrote: "... when you start posting out right lies it is time the management looked at you."
I agree. The management does need to have a look at you... OR you could just get a life.
