How to Tell Who is a “Moderate Islamist:” An Exam

The Muslim Brotherhood held a rally at Cairo’s most important mosque. Demonstrators chanted, “One day we shall kill all Jews."

Question 1: How can you tell they are “moderate Islamists?”

Answer: They said “one day,” in other words, they aren’t going to do it this week.

Question 2: At the rally someone said:

"In order to build Egypt, we must be one. Politics is insufficient. Faith in Allah is the basis for everything. The al-Aqsa Mosque is currently under an offensive by the Jews." Who was it?

Answer: Ahmed al-Tayeb, the “moderate” president of al-Azhar University and arguably the most important Muslim cleric in Egypt. Note: al-Aqsa Mosque is not under attack by Jews.

Question 3: Why did al-Tayeb talk this way in the context of calling for a Jihad against Israel?

Answer: Maybe he isn't so moderate. But more importantly it is part of the general radicalization of Islam that is going to happen in Egypt now that the Brotherhood will be running the place and thus his desire to survive rather than be branded a lackey of the Zionist-imperialist crusade to destroy Islam and have his head cut off. (See Question 1.)

The title isn’t ‘moderate muslim’ it’s “moderate islamist”. There is a difference.

Yes there is a difference, like loaded or unloaded, armed or disarmed. A difference in state.

3. They toss a flower on the bleeding stump of a neck?
4. They only spit on the lopped-off head once instead of a dozen times?

5. They only show the video on Al-Jazeera 3 times instead of 300 times?
6. They send the body parts back in 1 or 2 boxes instead of 2 dozen little boxes?

7. They only lash their daughter 2 dozen times—within a hair’s breadth of death—for getting raped; instead of stoning her to death instantly with riotous glee?
8. It takes them 3 cartoonists to get them to foam at the mouth instead of 1?

Actually strict Sunnis, including, but not limited to Salafists and Wahabbis, consider all the varieties of Shi’ites I pointed to as examples of moderate Muslims to be apostates.

From what some Muslims have told me there is a peaceful Koran and a more violent Koran, they say that is sort of like our Old and New Testament. They have told me that like we follow the New Testament they follow the peaceful Koran (they see the Old Testament as more violent). I upon occasion, as they come up in my life, witness to Muslims the faith of Jesus Christ.

From what I can tell Mohammad wasn't violent until he started to acquire more followers and power over people. From what I can tell he became more and more demon possessed as time went on. He wrote parts of the Koran before which some more peaceful Muslims choose to follow and violent parts later which the violent Muslims follow.

I have witnessed to young Muslims who sincerely go on about how we are to love everyone, and not hate anyone. I told one how Israelite blood has been mixed in with many people of the Mid East because of them being dispersed. I told him that for all he knew he could be part Israeli. Amazingly, he did not have a problem with this idea at all and even seemed to like it and again he said he believed in loving everyone. His reactions and proclamations utterly amazed me for someone professing to be a Muslim. He was from Jordan.

Has anyone else talked/witnessed to Muslims who talk of love and peace?
