CNN host Piers Morgan spoke with Gabrielle Giffords‘s husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, on Wednesday and discussed Sarah Palin‘s controversial crosshair map, which targeted the Congresswoman’s district. Kelly wrote in a new book that the former Alaska governor never reached out to them. “We were never contacted by her,” Kelly said.
“I find that extraordinary,” Morgan exclaimed.
“Yeah, I was surprised too,” Kelly replied. “You know, certainly the targets that she put over Gabby’s and other people’s districts, in our opinion, was not the right thing to do. She is not the first person to do that. And it hasn’t always been Republicans that have done that.”
“Some interesting insights in the book into who, you know, walked to the plate and who didn’t, really, in terms of political colleagues and people that she had worked for and against. Sarah Palin doesn’t come out of this very well, I don’t think, because there was a woman who at the time had been putting these cross hair things on her website and stuff, including Gabby,” Morgan observed. “And in her haste to take responsibility didn’t even bother to pick the phone up, to write, do anything.”
“I liked your line about it, which is if you had had the chance to talk to her, and you were expecting to, you weren’t going to say that you were responsible,” Morgan pointed out. “But you were going to say, you’ve been irresponsible.”
“Yeah, that’s my plan. You know, this was no surprise to us. Gabby even spoke about it before January 8th, during the election cycle, leading up to the election, in an interview. I think it might have been on MSNBC or some other — another cable news network. She made is very clear that, hey, this is what’s going on, and this could ultimately incite people to do violent things. So it wasn’t a big surprise on January 8th that — you know, that we — you know, where we knew this map existed with the cross-hairs on it. Now, having said that, you know, Sarah Palin certainly is not responsible for what happened. But I think the angry rhetoric in an election year is not — it’s not helpful.”
Every year, election or not, has angry rhetoric and imagery and he damned well knows it. If Palin had contacted them, it would've been spun as ad admission of culpability even though this shooting was born of a personal grudge held by a mentally unstable man.

If we had truth in media this Kelly guy would have been asked “for what reason was Palin supposed to contact you”?

Gabby wasn’t the target anyway, it was the judge who died.
This is stupid. Why should Palin have contacted him? IIRC, Gifford’s father (?) made nasty comments about Palin. But I could be mistaken. Maybe it was somebody else close to her.
That is the way it is supposed to be and should be done.
When I saw the headline, I was expecting to read that Sarah had stated that she had reached out to them, and that Kelly was refuting that claim.
For some reason, (maybe because he's an astronaut, I don't know), I figured Kelly was at least a reasonable guy.
But it turns out that this guy Kelly is just as twisted as any other leftist!
Kelly is whipping this horse for as long as it will let him ride. Do not address the issue in a way that may bring solutions. Attack the boogeyman caricature that they have created and beat their chests afterward. Pathetic.
There may be those who care what Mark Kelly thinks about anything in particular. Or, for that matter, anything at all.

Why is he not calling for Dupnik and other government officials to apologize for failing to do something about the leftist nutcase who shot his wife?
Dittos that. I knew program had turned into a joke when Christa Mcauliffe was sent into space before the vehicle exploded. She was all over TV. It was a massive PR stunt for NASA that went wrong because they weren't minding the basics like the O-rings

What about the Judge? Considering a leftist nutjob was the shooter, I'd be more inclined to think the judge was the target if there even was a specific target.

She didn’t want to face the people in her district, so she tried to hide from them. Then cornered, she merely parroted Pelosi’s talking points.
