Newt Gingrich Stands by 'Soft' Immigration Stance, Despite Party Backlash

WASHINGTON — Newt Gingrich isn’t backing off his “humane” immigration stance despite complaints from Republican hardliners and fellow Presidential hopefuls — he’s embellishing it.

The former House speaker issued “10 Steps to a Legal Nation” this week, expanding on his remarks during Tuesday’s GOP debate

(snip)

Those guilty only of sneaking into the U.S. would have a path “to legality, but not citizenship” similar to the existing naturalization process, plus a penalty fee of at least $5,000.

I didn’t become a long time supporting member of NumbersUSA so I could vote for a globalist corporate lackey such as Gingrich, (or McCain) who are all more than willing to sell out our USA culture so that factory food processors, etc can save $3 an hour on labor by hiring illegals.

Those who support unfettered Communist free trade and illegal immigration need to understand the basic definition of traitor. They don’t begin to grasp that some things are even bigger and more important than more profit.

1.a person who betrays another, a cause, or any trust.
2.a person who commits treason by betraying his or her country.

Amen... Once Sarah announced she wasn't running I was devastated.

I had no where to turn, because I put all my eggs in her basket. I hold no ill will towards her. She put her faith in Him and he told her no, not yet.

So I had to scramble for another. Of course I went right to the one with all the right principles, values and belief's I had.....who of course, is deemed “not electable”.

I wish people would stop telling me who can be elected and who cannot. Romney and Newt are an absolute NO.

I will have NO part in taking this country down. If stupid people decide taking us down is the best option, so be it.

I agree. It’s already been decided by the same powers that have decided we need electronic black box unaudited unidentified voters.

The “powers” will give us two candidates and make us believe we have elections and democracy and choice.

In the end, right before election day, Romney will be on top, and the Republican base will vote for him.

I'm going to suggest something very radical here that will probably get me in deep trouble with the GOP commissars on FR.

If the GOP attempts to force Romney as the candidate, I am not going to vote for him.

In fact, I am going to one up things and vote against every Republican on the ballot.

It's become abundantly clear that the Democrat Party is controlled by Marxists and that the GOP establishment, clinging to what power it has left, defending and enabling the Democrats at every turn, is the biggest obstacle to re-establishing genuine liberty and freedom in this country. Continuing to prop up the GOP establishment, directly or indirectly, with votes and money is no better than offering bailouts to zombie financial institutions or keeping alive dead religious institutions. At some point, enough is enough; put the dying horse out of its misery and start fresh.

If Romney is the GOP nominee, I'm going to write in Rand Paul. Or Tom McClintock. Or Jim Thompson. Or, if I'm really mad, I'll bubble in Obama on my ballot.

It's long past time to stop enabling the establishment of both parties. If the GOP keeps getting in the way of bringing down the Democrats, then the GOP needs to go. Period.

If that means sparking a massive, system-wide shock by opening fire on what's left of the GOP, then so be it.

Any idea of when California will reach that tipping point?

Best I can do is an educated guess. California is on the verge of bankruptcy NOW and they keep re-electing wack-jobs to drive it in deeper. At least one CA city has already gone bankrupt, but apparently it will have to get worse.

I figure they figure that they'll get more bail outs to save them no matter how they run the place into the ground. From that I would figure there will be no turn around until we have a fedgov who will make it clear THERE IS NO MORE MONEY!!! Ultimately they have to face reality because reality doesn't go away in the face of hopes and denial.

I used to live there in the Silicon Valley until I escaped to America. There's a huge amount of money there still available to be plundered from the wealthy, but not everybody's wealthy. People are pouring out of there and taking their small businesses with them.

I live in a small city in AZ now and our local U-Haul was so jammed that their very large parking lot was absolutely filled with rental trucks. You could scarcely get through to the storage lockers. I guess they have to dead head the trucks back to somewhere people are escaping from. And that doesn't count the people who get professional movers.

I guarantee you that the people coming here (not Phoenix) are not illegals and ours have almost disappeared. Everybody knows where they hang out to pick up day work and you used to see groups of 20 or more. That shrunk down to about 5 to 7 and now I haven't seen them for a while. Maybe they're hanging out somewhere else or maybe they've gone. I'm not saying there aren't any, but you sure don't see them like you used to.

About a year ago a California friend stopped by and told me people were asking high amounts for their houses and still getting the price, but that's where the buyers are mostly Chinese and Indians and there are apparently still enough tech jobs to support that. The towns I know of where that's happening also have award winning schools which the Asians value highly and their children tend to maintain if not raise the quality of those schools. Other places I don't know about specifically.

But I do know that when the money is gone, things will change. Hopefully people will wise up. I know one other thing Asians tend to be centered on is finances. I remember back in the '90s when we were just learning about La Reconquista at the same time property all around us was being bought up by Asians. I wondered at that time what would happen when ravaging hordes of "entitled" but unskilled illegals would clash with that other demographic. I still don't know, but I'm so glad I'm not there any more.

I wish I knew more personally about other areas of California to have a feel for what it would take to slam the "progressive" voters into sanity, but I don't. I do know that non-coastal California is less reality challenged, but the population there is smaller than in the coast's big cities so the voting remains dumb.

My guess is it'll all hit the fan when some of those big cities can't pay the protection money. There's enough concentration of technology business in some of the cities to keep going and I think that type business thrives on being in a general milieu or concentration of tech society so that some of those businesses will be more resistant to going elsewhere.

I wish I had a better guess for exactly when, but I don't. I'm seven years out of date. I think you can count on it happening when the very wealthy can't protect themselves from the gangs, leeches, and invaders. Whether that will result in a political sea change or total collapse remains to be seen.

Palin was my first choice too. It seemed like the media had emptied all its cartridges at her, and had no more bullets left to fire. Since she had weathered the worst they could dish out—worse than anything I have ever seen against any other candidate at any time—it appeared her time to shine had come. As you said, prayer and seeking God’s guidance led to a different outcome.

I had reservations about Cain at first. I have since investigated him, and the kind of person he is—and the True Conservative he is—won me over completely. I am behind him now a hundred percent.

He has a steep hill to climb. Axelrod knows Obama would be defenseless against the critique of a true black man—hence the women, who all originated in Chicago [Axelrod’s home turf, but a place where Cain has never lived or worked].

The GOP antipathy toward Cain is, if anything, even greater. The GOP Ruling Class Establishment, enriching itself on legalized insider trading, is terrified of an outsider who might upset the gravy train. They can’t be sure Cain would rubber stamp their institutionalized corruption, and so they must guard against him.

I pray Cain can overcome the resistance of both parties and win the election. We need his business savvy now more than ever, not to mention his upbeat optimism, can-do spirit, and passionate love of the USA.

Go Cain!

I would say to Bachmann what I would say to anyone else. Listen to the interview in context, and not w a gotcha attitude. Then listen to Cain’s clarification of his position on abortion. [He said he is categorically against it.] Then examine his actions. He spent a huge sum of his own $ on a pro-life anti-abortion ad campaign. Do not actions count for anything any more? According to the Scriptures, actions speak louder than words.

Cain is pro-life, period.

Then examine his actions.

Promising to sign immoral, unconstitutional "fetal pain" legislation. Supporting the most liberal, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual governor in history for president in the last election cycle. Sending money to pro-abort candidates for high office.

Done.

You’re entitled to your opinion. I have studied Cain in-depth, and I see a different person. If, however, you are convinced Cain is as pro-abortion as you say, perhaps you should notify JR. He will silence Cain’s backers, because as you know, this is a pro-life conservative site.

Well, Bachman is out.
Cain is out.
Santorum is out.
Huntsman just plain sucks.
Ron Paul scares people to death.

The only one left untouched is Romney. The primaries aren’t too far away. I guess he’s the most conservative, because he’s still standing, right? The rest aren’t good enough.

Let’s put it this way....Romney or Newt? Who else is left? The Republicans have already dissed the rest. They weren’t “Perfect enough.”

Our own set of rules, our demand for perfection, will defeat us every time. In the end, Romney will still be untouched on election day, because we’ve been so busy eating our own! We’ll get the exact opposite of what we want, because we weren’t willing to deal with one imperfection later. Instead. we’ll get the trillions of Romney imperfections we deserve.

Now that’s a mouthful! One by one they take out our candidates for one reason or another, and we have the “chosen” one the media is pushing on us. How convienent.
Don’t fall for this again people. They did it with Bob Dole, John McCain.

I so want to be rid of Obama that if it means voting for Romney, I’ll probably hold my nose and do it. We can’t continue like we are now.

So who’s left?? Not that loon Paul. Not Huntsman.
May Rick Santorum? He’s a long shot.

By the way, a sure sign Newt screwed up is all the media talking heads calling his immigration stance “responsible” and the “only adult voice on immigration on the Republican side.” That alone should tell you how bad Newt’s position on this is.

As much as I like Jim, and appreciate Free Republic, neither are my plumb line.

When it comes to the equal protection of every innocent person, my plumb line is found in Genesis chapter 9, the 10 Commandments, Romans chapter 13, the natural law, the Declaration of Independence, the statement of purpose of the U.S. Constitution, the explicit, imperative requirements of the Fifth, the Eighth and the Fourteenth Amendments, and in all the constitutions of the states of the United States.

Practically the entire field of candidates has flip-flopped on immigration. I dont trust any of them. They are all pretty soft on this issue.

Even Cain supports an expanded guest worker program.

I wouldnt expect much change in immigration policy if any of these people were to become President.

I hear you. I don’t think JR’s plumb line is so different than yours, however. He has never allowed FR to be used to support a pro-abortion candidate. If your evidence is conclusive, you should make the case. You may be the catalyst in taking down, so far as FR is concerned, a candidate you deem unacceptably pro-abortion.

[Disclaimer: I don’t personally believe Cain is pro-abortion. I believe he is pro-life, and has walked the talk.]

All of the Republican candidates for president fail when put next to the plumb line I mentioned. It isn’t just Cain.

Shoot, they don’t even measure up to their own party’s Reagan personhood, Fourteenth Amendment platform that has been in place for the last 28 years or so.

They pretend it doesn’t exist, just like they pretend the Constitution doesn’t require what it requires.

“No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law.”

“No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
