Congresswoman Bachmann appears to be conveniently forgetting her own views on immigration in order to score political points. During the presidential debate at the Reagan Library on September 7, she said she won't deport all 11 million illegal immigrants here in the United States.

HARRIS: A quick 30-second rebuttal on the specific question. The fence is built, the border is under control. What do you do with 11.5 million people who are here without documents and with U.S.- born children?
BACHMANN: Well, that's right. And again, it is sequential, and it depends upon where they live, how long they have been here, if they have a criminal record. All of those things have to be taken into place.
Sounds almost identical to Newt's position that once we secure the border first, we can have a humane enforcement policy vis-a-vis some of those remaining.

Remember Obama’s Aunt Zetuni, the illegal alien leach poster child. She came here from Kenya, went right to the welfare office and ended up living in a nice subsidized apartment in Boston. Along with the free apartment, there had to have been other freebies such as a welfare check. It was only a fluke that Aunt Zetuni was exposed and that was only because she was Obama’s relative but how many ordinary illegals are doing the same thing? We have been far too naive about illegals even among many Republicans.
FRiend, I’m at a bit of a loss here. Who do you mean by “Your candidate’’ exactly? Do you mean me? If so, I haven’t endorsed anybody yet. I’m not too sure about Newt, he’s hit the right notes on some things but this latest statement about illegals and a kind of amnesty , quite frankly I’m not in favor of it.Nor have I ever said we need new immigration laws, we need to enforce the ones already on the books ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL! What part of that doesn’t anyone, including Newt not understand? Enforce the damn law as it is. And as a point of fact, the president doesn’t enforce the law, Congress does. Read the Constitution.
There is no need to deport the vast majority of illegals. We can establish policies that cause them to self deport.
Alabama did this, and it worked.

I was not addressing you specifically, but the thread in general. Newt is not proposing new immigration laws, he is proposing we enforce what we have.
BTW, how praytel does Congress enforce the law. Last I checked, the Secretarys of the different departments were part of the Presidents Cabinet. They may be confirmed by the Senate but that does not mean that Congress is who enforces the law. Congress has oversight on the purse strings, creation of laws, and of course to prosecute misconduct of these govenrment officials.
The President owns all the enforcement agencies. This includes positions such as Justice (Attorney General of the US), and defense of laws in front of the SC (Solicitor General of the US) as well as the police type agencies such as FBI, CIA, DHS, Customs and Border Patrol, Treasury (Secret Service) and of course, the Military. The branch that makes the law does not enforce the law. This is why the most important title of the President is Commander in Chief. Why/How do you think Congress enforces law?
I am not pushing amnesty. I don’t believe in open borders. I believe in human respect. Newt Gingrich was not pushing amnesty either just respect for family values which is a conservative value in case you didn’t know. Maybe you belong on a liberal kook site.
If it involves allowing ILLEGAL aliens to stay her legally it is amnesty.
It does, it is and you are.
NO, that was in response to Michele Bachmann
