FRiend, I’m at a bit of a loss here. Who do you mean by “Your candidate’’ exactly? Do you mean me? If so, I haven’t endorsed anybody yet. I’m not too sure about Newt, he’s hit the right notes on some things but this latest statement about illegals and a kind of amnesty , quite frankly I’m not in favor of it.Nor have I ever said we need new immigration laws, we need to enforce the ones already on the books ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL! What part of that doesn’t anyone, including Newt not understand? Enforce the damn law as it is. And as a point of fact, the president doesn’t enforce the law, Congress does. Read the Constitution.

I was not addressing you specifically, but the thread in general. Newt is not proposing new immigration laws, he is proposing we enforce what we have.

BTW, how praytel does Congress enforce the law. Last I checked, the Secretarys of the different departments were part of the Presidents Cabinet. They may be confirmed by the Senate but that does not mean that Congress is who enforces the law. Congress has oversight on the purse strings, creation of laws, and of course to prosecute misconduct of these govenrment officials.

The President owns all the enforcement agencies. This includes positions such as Justice (Attorney General of the US), and defense of laws in front of the SC (Solicitor General of the US) as well as the police type agencies such as FBI, CIA, DHS, Customs and Border Patrol, Treasury (Secret Service) and of course, the Military. The branch that makes the law does not enforce the law. This is why the most important title of the President is Commander in Chief. Why/How do you think Congress enforces law?
