"US Candidate Gingrich, For The Regularization of Immigration Status for Millions" (El Molino)

(ENGLISH TRANSLATION): US Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich, Republican, For The Regularization of Immigration Status for Millions" In the Al Momento Noticias by El Molino - 11/23/2011 8:36 AM

Two things became clear after the conclusion of the eleventh televised debate of Republican candidates, that Newt Gingrich is emerging in the polls, Mitt Romney moving to, and that he understands the importance of the Latino vote in United States to reach the White House in 2012.

Last night, risking the wrath of the Tea Party rightwing who have set the tone on immigration in the debates, Gingrich took a position which he described as "humanitarian."

We reproduce his words, that rule this time there were the boos he received when Rick Perry also said many Republicans "have no heart" on the issue of immigration.

I do not understand how the party that claims to be the party of the family can take a position on immigration that destroys families who have been here a quarter century. And I'm prepared to accept criticism by saying, 'we are human to implement the law without giving them citizenship but finding a way to create no separate legal status for their families.' "

"I do not think that the people of United States going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are part of the community who may have done something 25 years ago, separated from their families and drive them away.

"If you came recently, and you have no roots in this country, then you must go. But here is the point. But let's say the person has been here 25 years, has three children, two grandchildren, pays taxes, respects the law, is part of a local church - I do not think they're were are going to split up, cut and eject such a family.

"The Krieble Foundation has a magnificent red card program that says it can be legalized without being a path to citizenship. So we managed to have a country where there is no illegality, without any amnesty given automatically to anyone. "

Later Gingrich said:

"I want to tell the people, 'go home'. I want to create a border controlled. I want a guest worker program that can manage American Express, Visa or Mastercard. I want to make English the official language of government. I am willing to be rigid. But I will not pull on somebody's hair and tease them. And I can not imagine any serious person in this country who believes that we must destroy families who have been here 20 or 25 years."

Newt Gingrich has spoken in favor of some aspects of the DREAM Act, which would give citizenship to people who came to the United States without documentation of children.

Were Gingrich to get the Republican nomination, this new political perspective poses serious problems for the reelection of President Barack Obama not long ago who said his "strategy" is to get the Latino vote would only reproduce extracts from comments of the Republican candidates on immigration.

They don’t, but they do support ideas like Newt’s.

No, you’re not wrong...but, as usual, the Newt-haters and the Society of Purists don’t understand that.

Newton may not understand that the millions he mentions don’t necessarily want U.S. citizenship. Their hearts remains south of the border even if their bodies are to the north.

IF Newt has thought this thru, I think he needs some accounting advice and experience.

IF I were making the rules:

A. IF you have been here illegally-—for ANY amount of time—you MUST tell me how you got here. Did you overstay your Bracero status? Did you come for a visit & overstay your visa? Did you come under permission to study & just stay here? Did you cross the river illegally? EXACTLY how are you here?

B. Show me EVERY SINGLE ONE of your tax returns for the years you have been here because I want to see just EXACTLY how much INCOME taxes you have paid. I also will be auditing EXACTLY how much Earned Income Credit you were given by other American taxpayers due to a very poorly written law, which leaves the IRS confused as to whether you are even ENTITLED to such Earned Income Credit. In the past years, BILLIONS have been paid to known illegals who file a tax return, handing over money to them.

C. Show me ALL of your W-2’s for all these years, since NO American employer could LEGALLY hire you in the first place. I will be having other charges prepared against every one of them. IOW- Roofing & landscaping companies & contractors BEWARE. You are in my target zone.

D. Show me ALL of your living expenses for all the years you have been here because I am of the strong belief that you earned CASH under the table far more than you showed income.

E. Show me ALL of the receipts for the money you sent back to your home country—Mexico- or anywhere else in countries outside of the USA border. It is estimated that transfers of funds from the USA workers who are here illegally is the 2nd highest source of money for Mexico, only exceeded by their oil revenues. When you are sending your illegally earned funds back to Mexico, the American communities in which you hide are not benefitting.

F. If you have children born inside the USA, they must also be sent back to YOUR country of origin. The 14th Amendment was never meant to be a lure for illegals to come here & drop their babies on American soil. While you are at it, show me where your woman had these kids, because you also owe the taxpayers for the costs of such births in our medical systems. You also owe the taxpayers for the education expenses.

G. Show me PROOF that you & your clan did NOT get any kind of Welfare assistance: WIC-Welfare-Food Stamps-Free food at school-Free medical assistance- ANYTHING which is paid for my American taxpayers.

H. LIBERALS: Don’t try & tell me how important it is for these illegals to have a discounted & state supported ‘education’ , including colleges, because even then, with an education, it is still illegal for an American employer to hire them.

I. IF you have had any interaction with the American justice system, even a fight in a schoolyard, you will be denied ANY method of obtaining the right to stay inside the USA. Gang members are automatically sent back south of the border. We have enough criminals here already of our own making. We don’t need more.

J. Show me ALL the places where you hid/lived during your time here without permission. Those converted garages in East L A are a disgrace. People living 30 to a 2 bedroom apartment in North Hollywood are a blight on the property owner, the neighborhood & a scathing condemnation of the authorities who knew it was happening & looked the other way.

K. PROVE to me that YOU NEVER voted illegally. ACORN & other groups delight in twisting the system & the citizens of the USA deserve better. Las Vegas & ACORN made a mockery of the 2010 election for Senator.

L. Prove to me that you actually have fluency and proficiency in ENGLISH—READ—WRITE—and SPEAK it without resorting to gibberish & hand signals.

M. Prove to me that you actually have a SKILL which is needed inside the borders of the USA. You think you are a carpenter? Pass a test with a master carpenter. You think you are an electrician? Pass a test with a state board of contractors. I sure don’t want my house wired by someone who might cause my death by fire in the future. The guy who couldn’t read English 30 years ago & used the wrong fertilizer on the watermelon fields near Bakersfield caused deaths & put farmers on the verge of bankruptcy. Instead of fertilizer meant for melons, he used a herbicide meant for the cotton fields. Deadly error. He didn’t even know what the SKULL & CROSSED BONES meant on the bag.

N. NO ONE allowed to remain inside the USA, after jumping all these hurdles will EVER be allowed to vote. You broke the law to get here. You broke the law to stay here, either working above or below the table. You filed a W-4 with your ‘employer’ which had enough dependents on it to prevent any INCOME TAXES for either Federal or State to even be deducted. You illegally used your dependents outside the borders of the USA to count up such a list of dependents, avoiding such normal payroll deductions in the process. Therefore, you NEVER paid INCOME TAXES to the USA. NO VOTING PRIVILEDGES—EVER.

O. ANY person who helped you get a driver’s license—any kind of ID—a job here—will be looked at closely. Such persons are supporting criminal activity & need to pay the price.

P. IF YOU ARE SENT BACK BECAUSE YOU CANNOT PASS ALL OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS & YOU ARE CAUGHT RETURNING TO THE USA, YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY MARKED IN A MANNER WHICH TELLS EVERYONE WHO SEES YOU THAT YOU ARE A CRIMINAL & ARE TO BE TURNED INTO AUTHORITIES. I DON’T EVEN WISH TO FEED & HOUSE YOU IN PRISON HERE, UNLESS IT IS ON OTHER CHARGES.

Until each and every one of Newt’s “family members” can get all this information in the hands of CONSERVATIVE auditors, they don’t get to stay here.

>>I am not convinced majority of legal residents and citizens are in favor of amnesty to illegals.<<

Of course only a minority of citizens are in favor of a blanket amnesty. (Granted, the Democrat politicians would vote en masse for it, but their constituents wouldn’t.)

But the point Gingrich, and Perry, and me for that matter, keep making is that some degree of fairness has to enter the process. Someone in here recently made the point that the borders were essentially wide open for years; we almost encouraged illegals to come here to work.

Yes, we should send most of them home and require them to go through a check to obtain a work permit, but in some cases simple fairness dictates that we consider all the circumstances before automatically deporting them as illegal.

Mark my words, if we don’t do that, we will permanently lose the Hispanic vote, and I’m talking about the legal Hispanic vote. Some of you sound like the principal who suspends the kindergartner for bringing a plastic butter knife to school...totally devoid of judgement and incapable of considering the facts and circumstances of an individual case. That’s all both Perry and Gingrich are advocating, at least overtly.

We already submarined Perry, one of our better candidates versus Romney, with this ridiculous logic. Now we’re supposed to take down Gingrich. You know what you’re going to get? Romney, who will walk back his anti-illegal-immigrant talk the very day he secures the nomination.

Better that Gingrich’s honest stance results in the rehabilitation of Perry’s image...

I am one of the legal immigrants, came here for post graduate degree in engineering on student visa, and after a long process of 10 years became eligible and was naturalized US citizen, a few decades back.

I am strongly against any amnesty to illegal immigrants. They should all get in line just like us legal immigrants. I did not immigrate to this magnificent country to tolerate law breaking. Every person living in US must have a legal status to be here. For migrant workers, a work-permit should be the minimum requirement so that we know who is here and doing what.

But nothing can really happen unless the borders are secured first!

After 5 years of legal residence, you become eligible to apply for citizenship, barring discovery of criminal record in US.

Please read my post #67.

If legal Hispanics get pissed because we want to enforce our laws, then they are undesirable legal residents or legal US citizens. But as a legal citizen myself, I know that is not true.

I have no argument with your post #67, at all.

However, you seem to be claiming that those who disagree with you are “undesirable” residents/citizens, and that I do have a problem with.

You wave the word “amnesty” as though it were the equivalent of “Don’t Tread on Me.” It’s not; applied rationally, it’s a basis for treating those on the wrong side of a law with some degree of fair judgement.

As I said earlier, that lack of judgement is typical of the principal who would suspend a kindergartner for bringing a plastic butter knife to school along with his lunch. Those people really do exist, and they are incapable of applying judgement to a particular situation, always wanting to instead apply the law strictly as written.

And they sound just as silly doing so as some of the people in here sound with their incessant “They broke the law!” chant. Yes, they did. Now use some rational judgement in sorting out the mess that our own failure to enforce our own laws has caused. That’s all we’re asking.

And, repeating myself, I hope Newt’s very public stance on this now helps to rehabilitate Perry’s image, because I think he’d make the better choice as our nominee.

Apparently you object to my merely locating and translating an article from the Latino press which indicates their widespread perception of Mr Gingrich and his recent folly so why not all cap your issues with El Molino and their writers?

My solution is to deport Newt. Maybe if we send him to Dubai, he can change his religion a fourth time.

They would be part of the 47% that doesn’t get taxed. How about no benefits without tubal ligation? I can dream, can’t I?

You are correct.

If asomeone can come here without papers (WOPS) & not be challenged.....

Then why not grant them the ability to call themselves ENGINEERS? DOCTORS??? ACCOUNTANTS??? NURSES??? or any profession they can dream up and not require them to prove their ability in such professions? How would YOU like an illegal who declares himself a dentist or a doctor working on a member of YOUR family??? There is a man under arrest in the Reno area right now for PERFORMING SURGERY on people in HIS HOME who was an illegal. Perhaps he was licensed in whatever 3rd World country he came from, but he could not get such work here in the USA & caused mayhem on the people he convinced that he could ‘help’.

People work hard & pay for courses that give them the right to call themselves a professional in lots of fields.

This is basic, people.

WE CAN deport them, but to keep them from coming back, we have to have a serious fence & proper border guards. Perhaps that is the only employment our returning military will be instantly able to perform, but that is fine with me. I want an Israeli type fence, not a virtual fence.

I don’t have a virtual bank account. I don’t have a virtual car or truck. I don’t have a virtual refrigerator with virtual food that I purchased inside it. All of those items I have are real-—not VIRTUAL!!!!

A virtual fence is a joke.

Why did we even consider letting Third Worlders into our country to begin with? How can we cleanse our culture now with the detritus of Latin America, Asia, and Africa?

“How about no benefits without tubal ligation? I can dream, can’t I?”

We couldn’t do that with the previous permanent underclass (though they “froze” benefits if additional children were born, and put a five year limit on benefits - both of which brought the birthrate and political clout down as desired).

Any time ANY ONE breaks any law, there has to be some form of punishment meted out. Otherwise we become a lawless society.

No one is advocating death sentence to illegal immigrants. Punishment has to be proportional to the severity of crimes committed.

I have not given a lot of thought what an appropriate punishment would be for illegals, but there can be no across the board pardon. May be they can pay a fine, register, and wait in line behind the legal applicants. If they refuse that then they deserve deportation.

Oh please. I give more to charity each year than many of these ILLEGAL invaders make. I am not God nor do I have to forgive those who break our laws, especially when they do so to the detriment of American citizens.
