Reacting to former House Speaker Newt Gingrichs comment during Tuesday nights CNN debate that the GOP should not destroy families with inflexible immigration policies, former Senator and fellow Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum told The Daily Caller that the Republican party should offer no hint or promise of amnesty.

HOORAY Rick Santorum!
He should have jumped down GINGRICH'S GD THROAT on that one.
Our current policies do not break up families, nor has any policy proposed that.
It was GINGRICH who mentioned taking children away from their parents. Current American law sends the kids with their parents. Illegal aliens get to keep their children.
This is of a piece with Gingrich's idea of sending kids to orphanages instead of to live with families.
I always thought he had in mind using orphanages to raise up large Infantry armies to go around the world and impose "order" ~ kind of the way the Ottomans dealt with their vast empire of subject states.
This particular thought of his tells us all that he really did imagine doing that.
Maybe it's just a meme echoing off the loose brain cells here and there, or maybe he has a master scheme in mind to impose PAX AMERICANA on the whole world. Or maybe nothing at all, but he's bringing up the topic of stripping Mexican babies from their mothers.
NO ONE ELSE IS!
Newt really stepped in it. I’m glad because there is a naive group at FR that actually views him as a conservative.
NO AMNESTY.
NO COMPROMISE.

He is Conservative, and an accomplished one at that! No naivety at all.
Funny enough though some folks believe a candidate who contemplated endorsing Obama in 2008 (and who endorsed Romney in 2008) is a Conservative. I mean, we’re not even talking about some questionable character for some House District, we’re talking about for the PRESIDENCY!
Yawn.
Thread #35 on the same damn topic.
Yawn.
Amen! What is so hard really, about enforcing our country’s laws?
If they’ve been around here that long, its because the federal government never did its job.
NO TO NEWT GINGRICH FOR PRESIDENT!
Don't forget your push-up bra whenever you put on your cheerleader outfit.
lol! Yes, I know. RINOs are humane. RINOs have a heart. RINOs are not racists and all of us who are not RINOs are. Liberal ‘logic’ is the same whether it’s being spouted by a leftist or by a RINO.
Ohh yeah, Bible clingers, and Constitution bitter clingers, and right wing social engineerists.
Santorum couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Scranton!
GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY
As president, I will have 6 words for anyone who in this country illegally
GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY... NOW
STOP illegal immigration FIRST!!!!!!!!... then we'll talk (fences, electrical fences, whatever...) TAKE CONTROL OF THE BORDER/ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
FIRST... FIRST... FIRST.... FIRST... and when that has been done, then we can deal what the illegals already here.
Let's face it, nothing "new" of quality has shown up yet... why not SANTORUM?
What makes people MAD is not that they are cruel, haters and the rest... What people HATE is the "political trickery" of politicians who find it "convenient" to brush over this problem with demagoguery - like NEWT - when we know this is not a REAL SOLUTION. You would be amazed how the American people would respond if they KNEW that the same problem would not repeat itself in ten years from now.
P.S. Anyone who things that this country is NOT CAPABLE of controlling their own borders... is an IDIOT in my opinion. period.
I agree!
Santorum’s really just uttering the Establishment fig leaf position on illegal immigration. Palin was at this point, as was McCain, a year or two ago. It also conveniently gets the pol off the hook of saying what their real ultimate position on illegals is. Because left unstated is that we’re not supposed to say we’re for amnesty until after the border is secured, because that’ll just draw more in. But once the border is supposedly secured, then, wink, wink, we’ll do the ‘humane’ thing.
Is that any better than Gingrich’s being open about it? I’m really not sure. They’re both poor positions in my view.

Good points. Years have gone by and this issue is still not resolved. 300+ million Americans and it comes down to Obama vs. the best of the rest that we have. Woe is us.
